PERSONAL IMPRESSIONS
1.1
In this scene Horatio is with two friends, soldiers. When he arrives they, Barnado and Francisco, say they have seen a ghost. At first Horatio doesn't believe them, but the ghost appears again before him. He then admits that the ghost sort of resembles the King, who has just died. Horatio tries to talk to the ghost but it just disappears.

1.2
This is when Horatio tells Hamlet about the ghost. Hamlet is stunned at first, but then wants to hear about everything that happened. Horatio explains how he tried to talk to this ghost, but the ghost never responded. But the ghost did lift his head up, as if to speak. Horatio tells Hamlet how the ghost looked very pale. But instead of looking angry he looked sorrowful.

1.4
Horatio, Marcellus, and Hamlet are waiting for the ghost. The ghost comes to them. Horatio tells Hamlet that the ghost wants him to follow. Horatio and Marcellus do not want Hamlet going with the ghost. Horatio is afraid the ghost may try to kill Hamlet. Hamlet goes anyway. After they leave, Horatio and Marcellus decide to follow behind, just to be safe.

1.5
After Hamlet and the ghost talk for a while, the ghost leaves. Then Horatio and Marcellus come in and try to find out what was said. Hamlet, at first, does not want to say anything. He fears they will talk of it with someone else. Hamlet (and the ghost from and unseen place) makes Horatio and Marcellus swear on his sword that they will not say a word about what they have seen.

4.6
Horatio is brought a letter by some sailors from Hamlet. In the letter Hamlet explains how he is being held in Denmark. The sailors also have letters for the king. Hamlet tells Horatio to make sure that the king gets his letters. Hamlet goes on about how he is being held prisoner by some pirates. Hamlet has something shocking to tell Horatio, but must say it in his ear. He cannot write this down on paper, someone may find it.

5.1
Horatio and Hamlet enter a graveyard and spot a man digging. Hamlet is angry when he hears the gravedigger singing about his job. Horatio tries to explain that singing makes it (his job) easier for him.
The gravedigger and Hamlet talk for awhile. Then the king, queen, and Laertes come in. Hamlet and Laertes begin to fight. Laertes has found out that it was Hamlet who killed his (Laertes) father. Horatio basically tells Hamlet to calm down and back away from it. No need to fight about it.

5.2
This is when just about everyone dies! Hamlet tells Horatio about the forged letter that he wrote to kill Rosencrantz and Guildentstern. Hamlet drinks some poison drink and Horatio tries to drink what is left but there is not enough. Hamlet dies, but Horatio does not.
