Democracy for America is our nation's largest progressive political action community. With over 675,000 members nationwide, DFA is a grassroots powerhouse working to change our country and the Democratic Party from the bottom-up. Members support progressive issues and candidates up and down the ballot. This is the Enid, OK chapter of the DFA.
The Enid DFA is an all volunteer Democratic club serving the greater Enid area. The DFA was founded by Gov. Howard Dean after his Presidential bid in 2004. We are the populist, self-empowered practitioners of democracy from the small to the large scale and we stand strong as pragmatic, undaunted, mainstream liberals. PURPOSE Our purpose is to build civic participartion aimed at electing progressive Democrats to office and to promote progressive policies on major issues. MISSION Our mission is to boldly uphold the principles of equality, justice and the democratic process by supporting socially progressive and fiscally responsible candidates and issues, providing training, getting out the vote, and offering public forums and other resources aimed at open political discourse. WHAT WE DO   -Democratic Party Building; not simply more, but better Democrats   -Candidate Recruitment and Support, including Precinct Committeepersons.   -Progressive Issue Focus, especially:                  -Election Integrity                  -Enegery Independence                  -Universal Healthcare                  -Media Reform                  -Anti-corporatism                  -Civil Liberties                  -Rational approaches to problem solving   -Practice Democratic Values of Equality, Sustainability, Empathy, Responsibility, Strength, Protection, Fairness, Accountability, Fulfillment, Freedom, Opportunity, Prosperity, Community, Service, Cooperation, Trust, Honesty, and Open communication ___________________________________________________________ Any event or function of the Enid DFA shall be operated for the benefit and futherance of the goals of the Enid DFA. To that end, any speaker or socilication presented may be for:   -Enid DFA   -A Democratic candidate for office with preference given to Enid DFA endorsed candidates   -An elected Democratic official   -Democratic party   -Demcracy For America   -Ballot initiative or issue spokesperson with progressive focus   -Expert speakers. The decision to allow anything not ont he list must be approved by the leadership. Expert speakers may not solicit funds, but should be secured with or without a fee.
