The History Task Force is responsible for learning about Unitarians and Universalists in Enid's past as well as recording our history as the current fellowship.
Here's what we've learned thus far from various resources.
1950s-1960s : a small group of Unitarians apparently did have a group that met in Enid. It was simply known as Unitarian Fellowship of Enid. The group seems to have disbanded sometime in the 1960s, but not sure exactly when.
1980s : a group of Unitarian Universalists in Enid form the Hays Unitarian Universalist Church here in Enid. The group stops reporting to the Conference in the mid 1990s.
2000s : a small group of folks at All Souls Church here in Enid consider becoming a Unitarian Universalist church. The group is divided on the measure and part of the group goes on to form the Sanctuary Meditation Center. The groups become inactive by 2005.
2008: The Enid Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is started by several people in Enid determined to have a successful UU congregation here in Enid.
