The members of Full Range met each other by chance at a 311 concert in Milwaukee on March 18, 2000. Members Mike Maguire and Brian Sherman showed up for the show four hours early to secure a spot up front, and there they met members Jude LaRose and Vito Viola. The band did not actually form until May 2000 when Brian and Jude talked on the phone, and Jude mentioned something about wanting to form a band. Brian told Jude that he played guitar and would want to give the whole band thing a shot. They decided on the name Full Range and with Brian came DJ Mike “Madness” Maguire and drummer Mike “Hazoo” Hauser. The band got together a few times over that summer and wrote 7 original songs. However, they did not play their first show until September 2000. Brian and Mike were friends with the lead singer of Lucky Boys Confusion (a local Chicago band now on Elektra Records), Kaustubh Pandav. Brian and Mike had told Kaustubh about Full Range, and unexpectedly, he asked them to open up for Lucky Boys Confusion at the Canopy Club in Urbana, IL. That was Full Range’s first show, and since then, they have played several shows. They recorded their first CD Chance Encounter over winter break 2000 and released it on May 25, 2001. Full Range continues to play shows with a variety of bands from the local scene in Chicago, and they have established themselves in the scene as well. The members of Full Range have been writing new material for future releases, and they hope to go somewhere someday with their music.
