Our El Paso Telemarketing Campaign
The El Paso Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), Lodge 82 conducts a telemarketing campaign in the city to assist our organization in providing for member benefits. We also use these funds to support local charities and provide assistance as needed. We have contracted a professional telemarketing firm to conduct these calls. The FOP should not be confused with the local police department. The Fraternal Order of Police of El Paso is comprised strictly of federal law enforcement officers of the federal government. Some El Paso residents might get other calls from the National Fraternal Order of Police, or the Texas State Fraternal Order of Police. All three entities have conducted telemarketing activities in the El Paso area. If you desire that your donation be spent in the local area, your El Paso Fraternal Order of Police is your local lodge.
Our organization is not an ordinary police officers association, or associated in any way with the El Paso Police Department. It was unfortunate for us to learn recently, that Chief Wiles of the El Paso Police Department disseminated an uncomplimentary press release targeting the Fraternal Order of Police in El Paso. His department’s release led the reader to believe that the Fraternal Order of Police was an organization that the public had to be “warned about” as it pertains to phone solicitation. It must be noted that Chief Wiles’ personal opinions are not shared by the majority of his department and his assertions are misguided. Our lodge president has spoken personally with Chief Wiles regarding our organization’s activities. Our requests to Chief Wiles’ office to provide a comment on his actions have been met with negative results.
The Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 82, is a 501 © 8, non-profit organization as per Internal Revenue Service regulations; and as such, we are registered with the Texas State Attorney General (512-463-3772) and the Texas State Secretary (512-475-0775); and duly authorized to conduct our telephone solicitation campaign. If anyone has any questions regarding our organizational status, please feel free to contact them.
The El Paso Fraternal Order of Police will continue to support our local law enforcement brothers and sisters for their contribution and positive influence in our local community.
This past December, the Presa Elementary School administration approached the FOP to assist them in providing holiday turkeys to needy families in their school district as the El Paso Police Department had recently rescinded their help. The FOP was more than willing to assist them during this past Holiday season.
