THINGS AREN'T ALWAYS WHAT THEY SEEM

Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guestroom. Instead the angels were given a small space in the cold basement.

As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied, "Things aren't always what they seem."

The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife After sharing what little food they had the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night's rest.

When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field. The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel how could you have let this happen? The first man had everything, yet you helped him, she accused. The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let the cow die.

"Things aren't always what they seem," the older angel replied.

"When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn't find it."

"Then last night as we slept in the farmers bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him the cow instead. Things aren't always what they seem."
Sometimes that is exactly what happens when things don't turn out the way they should. If you have faith, you just need to trust that every outcome is always to your advantage. You might not know it until some time later...

Some people
come into our lives
and quickly go…
Some people
become friends
and stay a while...
leaving beautiful
footprints on our
hearts...
and we are
never quite the same
because we have made a good friend!!

A halloween story

This story was made in my Language Arts class by one of my friends. She wrote a few sentences, and then passed it on to the person on her right. They then wrote a few sentences, and it went like that till class was over.

We never intended to cause so much trouble last Halloween night. It was a dark, cold, and windy night. As it grew darker more children appeared. Then all of a sudden we heard this loud shreek. We turned around, and after we saw that monster we screamed. We ran and ran. Everytime we turned around it was right there. It growled and snarled. We kept running. Suddenly, a child tripped and fell. She was consumed in darkness. The monster was getting closer and closer until they could see its shadow under the lightpost. The children ran as fast as they could to their houses. Then, the monster split its long body into 3 of itself and went chimneys of all the houses. An evil Santa Claus! It's wide spread made me realize that I could stop it. I grabbed my spare sawed off shotgun, and ran for one of the homes.(I always keep a spare gun in my cadibag, just in case!)I ran through the children's home and to the fireplace. He wasn't there.! I started searching the hallways I couldn't find him. Then I heard a scream, it came from the attic! I started up the stairs, but I was stopped by something else, it was a purple cow. Next, a bean stalk came out of the ground and a jolly green giant was at the top waving and smiling. He was standing next to the purple cow. On the other side of him was the creature. As he stared the whole room went black, everything disappeaed. The world was no more.

The Little Men
By: Emily Stewart

Once upon a time there lived 6 tiny little men. They had short white beards and tiny little clothes. Every day they sleep until noon. As the clock strikes 12 the little men get up and begin their day. They take a shower and change their clothes. They eat their breakfast and clean the house. They eat lunch and play some games. They eat their dinner and then get ready for bed. They change into their nightcaps and crawl into their beds. They sleep very soundly until someone shouts, "She's awake!" And up pop the little men. They button their tiny belts. Pull on the tiny shoes and put on their tiny hats. They grab their tiny shovels and picks, and off to work they go, singing high-ho.

The men live in the wall of a little girl's bedroom. When she wakes up in the middle of the night the little men come with their picks and their shovels and dig for gold on top of her covers. The little girl watches with pleasure until she falls asleep.

But as the little girl grows she wakes up in the night less and less. And one day she stops believing in the little men. Slowly the little men start disappearing. First their fingers and toes, then their tiny little clothes. Soon all that you can see of the little men are faint figures of what used to be. The little men sit and cry. And as they do you can see the tears in their eyes. The little girl forgot them so their magic will die. Soon the little men will be completely gone too. As the faint figures are finally fading away... They hear a small cry from the little girl's bedroom. Every one of the little men runs to the door in the wall and peer out into the room. The girl's bed is gone and in its place stands a crib with a tiny baby girl inside. The little men begin to reappear and they get ready. They button their tiny jackets buckle their tiny belts, bull on their tiny shoes, and put on their tiny hats. They take their tiny picks and shovels and off to work they go. Singing "high-ho"

The magic shoes
By: Erica(prez)

Deep in the forests of Ireland, there is a village of tiny people. They live normal lives. Every year on St. Patrick’s day they have a tricking contest. Every year the same person wins. He is very quick and sly. Not only that he has a magic pair of shoes. When he wears them he can turn invisible and even disappear. Also, he has practice. He plays many tricks on his sister. He puts glue on her seat, bugs in her hair and bed, and mud in her shoes. She got very mad at him one day and decided to play a trick on him.

On the morning of St. Patrick’s day, she got up at dawn and snuck into her brother’s room. She switched his shoes with a pair she had bought in town the day before, and looked exactly with his magic shoes. When, he woke up that morning, he did not notice that these were not his shoes. He went out and hid in the bushes looking for his first victim of the day.

Finally, he found the perfect person to trick. He waited till the little boy was right in front of his bush. Then he jumped out, did a little jig, and started to run. The little boy had never heard of leprechauns, and mistook him for a small animal. He decided to chase him anyway. He chased him to the edge of the woods, and that was when the leprechaun decided to turn invisible. He thought “invisible” “invisible”, but nothing happened, so he decided to try to disappear, so he thought “disappear” “disappear”. Still, nothing happened. That is when he realized these weren’t his shoes. Quick as he was, he still had little legs, and eventually tired out, and that is when the little boy caught him. So the leprechaun said “Ok you caught me now you may have your pot of gold.” “I don’t want a pot of gold,” said the little boy “I want a pet”. “Well I don’t have any pet to give you,” he said. “O yes you do.” To this very day the little leprechaun is still serving out his punishment for what he did to all those people, and especially his sister. Right now, he is at his new home, in a glass aquarium, running in a hamster wheel. The moral of the story…Don’t pick on your sister or she may just pick on you.
This story will seem a lot like the last one. That is because I ended up changing the last one before turning it in.

The tricking contest
By: Erica(prez)

Deep in the forests of Ireland, there is a village of tiny people called leprechauns. Each year on St. Patrick’s day they have a tricking contest. The same person always wins every year. He is very quick and sly. Every year a leprechaun named Bryan tries to win but he can never beat Patrick. One year he really wanted to win, so he decided to make a plan and not give up.

Finally, on the day of the contest, Bryan had everything planned. First, he went to the shoe store and switched all the shoes. Then, he went to school and changed the desks around. Next, he went to the library and knocked the books off the shelves. Then, he went to the Ice Cream store, and turned off the air conditioner, so all the ice cream melted. By the end of the day he had performed fifty tricks, a new record! When Patrick found out he lost by forty tricks, he was very upset and embarrassed. He was so ashamed that he moved to England and changed his name to Charles. Bryan was very happy. He went on to win the contest every year until he retired. Every trick he played another shamrock would grow, and every trick that his descendants played a shamrock would grow. That is why there are so many shamrocks. So, every time you see a shamrock, think of Bryan and his determination to win.
