BYOND is an open-ended gaming engine published by Dantom International. The BYOND engine is designed to be a highly intuitive and easy-to-use program to facilitate the creation of web-based games, but it's such an incredibly powerful and versatile engine that it can be used for a vast array of different projects--in fact, if you filled out any of the polls listed on this website, they were routed through a BYOND-based poll engine. BYOND provides a very simple web-based interface with some basic functions for several types of games built in to allow builders new to programming to make their dreams into reality without getting in the way of letting experienced programmers tailor the engine to suit their tastes. It's truly a fantastic program, and highly recommended if you've ever wanted to create that perfect little online game but never knew where to start--or even if you never have, as the thriving world of BYOND is an excellent source for quality online games. Perhaps the best part of BYOND is the innovative pay model whereby the BYOND client, compiler, and many online services are completely free, while still providing a convenient and safe method for money exchanges, to allow for donations or fees for maintenance costs, etc., for game designers who choose such an option.
