EKEBERG
With a great view of Oslo City!
Ekeberg, part of Oslo, used to be called Eikaberg (eik= oak, berg = hill). From Ekeberg you might enjoy the view of almost the entire city of Oslo.
MUNCH's SCREAM
Edvard Munch painted the famous "Skrik" (Scream) with the view from Ekeberg as background (Not the picture here. See links under.). Munch had an ill sister at the hospital at the foot of Ekeberg. He had also lost a good friend who shot himself in the forest by the hill.
No wonder he felt despair at the top of Ekeberg - nature, life and death screaming at him! In late evenings dramatic red clouds are sometimes seen in Norway - but Munch's sky in "Skrik" looks almost like fresh blood!
