We're Back!!!Sort of.....
Okay you're maybe just a bit curious as to where the heck ol' skip has been the past 5 months or so.I'd love to tell you I was just kicking back, taking it easy and watching a lot of movies.Well, I have been watching a lot of movies but as for the rest well...
Back in October my already poor health started to take a turn for the worse.I started out with some heart related troubles that went from minor to major. It got to the point where I couldn't sleep at night because my heart wanted to jump out of my chest and do a mambo down the hallway.
Naturally I went through some rather uncomfortable tests on everything from my gall bladder to my heart. And it seems that the arrthymia is from the heart itself but why, we don't know. Also throw in mitral valve prolapse which is a mother#@$#@r on its own, a leaky valve blah blah blah.It ain't been fun.
"Well doc is this fatal?" "For the most part no but every so often a person does just drop dead from it"."Is this pain going to stop and/or is the heart going to get back to normal?".Sounding like Peter Lorre the doc replies: "Oh no.It will be a lifelong condition and will be quite painful I assure you". "Thanks ever so much for that cheery news".Sigh.Actually after time was taken to explain all of the symptoms that come with MVP we're a little more at ease. But it will be another lifelong severe illness to deal with.
Since this wonderful discovery we have doubled the amount of heart medication that I am on to try and bring it under control. As a result frankly some days are barely tolerable and other days just SUCK.
So the site itself had to take a back seat to everyday life.Instead of new material monthly we're looking at only new postings a couple of times a year when I feel up to it.I couldn't give this site up entirely and this seemed to be the best option available.Who knows what the future holds?
  Onto more cheery things!
Some time ago I wrote an article for the Horror-Wood website entitled "The Edgar Wallace Connection".One of the films I covered was The Creature With The Blue Hand.Needless to say I was astounded when contacted in late 2/2003 by someone who told me I was quoted on the back of the dvd that had this film (Blue Hand) and the version with added gore footage shot 20 years later(The Bloody Dead). While it is all well and good (& I am thrilled) let's put it in perspective:This just means that people all over the world are asking the same question:
                     "Who is this @$$&0!e?"
But honestly I am thrilled by all of it and who wouldn't be?An Edgar Wallace dvd and I'm on the case!
A lot of the films I have watched over the past six months have already been covered here. But a few haven't and those were the ones that I wrote a little bit about.I have seriously gotten into the films that Val Lewton produced from 1942-1946.A few are covered this time around and a couple of strays may be covered in the future. So click on a link below and have fun!
PLEASE NOTE:If you were getting an update notice from other than the Yahoo address please request to be put on the mailing list.A fried hard drive resulted in a great many contacts being lost on my other email address.
I would like to thank everybody who sent well wishes and dropped me an email from time to time.It was most appreciated. Not really sure when the next update will be so I'll wish you all peace and a nice summer until next time.
