| Santo & Blue Demon Vs Dracula & The Wolf Man 400 years ago a wizard by the name of Cristaldi killed Dracula and his wolf man assistant Rufus Rex. Hey I'm not making this up!It was written that in the future the last of the Cristaldis would die at the hands of Dracula and umm Rufus. Professor Cristaldi turns to Santo to save himself, his daughter, her child and his niece (whom Santo is wrestling, er dating). An evil hunchback somehow knows the story and figuring Dracula will give him his treasure for his help, kidnaps the prof. He kills him and resurrects Dracula and Rufus the dog faced boy in a yellow silk shirt. The two plan swift revenge on the remaining Cristaldi household. They embark on a recruiting drive and round up a bunch of vampiric and wolfish henchmen. Santo enlists the help of that other famous masked wrestler/crime fighter/bon vivant Blue Demon to help him out. The fight is on and it looks like Dracula and the dog faced boy will win unless they can't keep Rufus off of the living room furniture. This movie just didn't work for me. If you've been dead for 400 years you just don't suddenly adapt to an extremely changing world in less than a week.And if Santo is so smart (he developed a wrist radio) but can't figure out what the fighting noises are upstairs? And don't get me started on lounge lizard, er wolf man err dog faced boy Rufus.It borrows liberally some plot devices from World Of The Vampires and a few other Mexican horrors.While this had some nice visuals it was not enough to save it. Santo Vs Frankenstein's Daughter Now is more like it! Freda Frankenstein is carrying out her daddy's work via the use of a serum that keeps her and her gang young looking. Without it they would revert to their true age.Freda is needing more frequent injections. She has determined the blood of Santo has a factor in it that would strengthen the injections. So she sets about snaring him in her trap by kidnapping his bouncy redheaded girfriend. Santo has to deal with Traxon an apeman created by the nasty Freda and finally Ursis who is a direct homage to the Karloff Frankenstein of the 30's. There are plenty of fights, thrilling escapes and captures. Santo nearly gets his eyes gouged out and is unmasked by Freda whom he rejects. It all looks hopeless at the end until a surprise ally shows up who may be able to turn the tide in Santo's favor. So if you dig big assed monsters, a vicious cruel villainess,thrilling escapes,lotsa foggy atmosphere, dank creepy underground lab/cavern sets and some serial type thrills this baby is for you. |
