Hello
every bunny and humans too! Hop on in kick back and let me tell you about
a house rabbit. I'm a seven-year-old mini-lop rabbit, my color is broken
black and I weigh around five pounds. Mr. Peeper's is what the humans named
me because I like to get up on my hind legs and peep around at things, and
it comes in handy if you want a treat, and I love treats! Well if you
know anything about bunnies then you know we love to eat. Food is very
important; we need fresh food, water and hay everyday. We can't survive
for more than twenty-four hours without water and no more than three days
without food. We need fresh hay also, you see we can't get sick at our
tummies so we eat roughage like hay to drive fur through our systems.

I have my own litter pan and
cage and my very own room, well I call it my room but I let the humans
share it with me as long as they give me a treat before they leave. I have
chew sticks to chew on and a cardboard box I like to dig in and camp out
in. I also like a towel put down so I can scrunch it up. Just like a small
child there are certain things that need to be done to protect us when we
are roaming the house. By nature we like to chew and test things with our
teeth. We also like to dig as we would do in the wild. That's why the
humans make sure that I have plenty of playthings to keep me distracted,
their pretty smart bunnies! They take care of me and I take care of them
by letting them know if there is any danger around. Say if the furniture
got moved I let them know by thumping my back legs as hard as I can. Then
they come in and tell me it's ok, that's the only time I hear that
word. So I know I can calm down now because I have done my job and alerted
them to the danger.

Now I'm not much on being picked up
I like my four paws on the ground. But you can come down and pet me any
time, don't worry when I get tired of being petted I'll just nudge your
hand away and I'll be off and hopping. You see us bunny's have certain
ways of communicating. When I'm being petted you can hear my teeth
grinding, that's a bunny purr for pure contentment. You can always tell
when I'm a happy bunny because that's when I like to do leaps in the air
and hops and jumps, the humans call it my bunny dance. I can leap straight
up and turn in the opposite direction or run as fast as I can from one
room to another, that's fun! I also have two playmates to keep me company
a golden retriever and a shih-tzu. It's never a dull moment around here!
Well if you're thinking about getting a bunny just remember that you're
not only getting a soft and furry friend. You're also getting a bunny that
will depend on you for his care for the next five to ten years of his
life. Without a humans love, care and commitment we cannot survive. So
enjoy, love and care for us because we are part of the family now and
that's what family is all about!
