The Story

Meteor Garden a.k.a Liu Xing Hua Yuan (2001) is a drama based on a manga named HANA YORI DANGO (1997) by Yoko Kamio. It's a story about a brave girl named Shan Cai. She's a lower-class girl who studies in an elite school that owned by 4 richest family. Actually she isn't really happy to studies there, since she has seen many unfairness and discrimination to the lower-class. And then, Shan Cai meets the F4. F4 are the sons of that 4 richest family which owned and influented the school and make the rule. If anybody make a mistake to the F4 especially the leader Dao Ming Si, they'll get a red paper in their locker with the writing on it "You'll Be Dead - F4", and then they'll get punishments from F4 soon, until they voluntary go out of the school. Finally it happens to Shan Cai. Since Shan Cai is a brave girl, she started to fight against the F4 especially the leader Dao Ming Si. Although she against F4, she also interested to Hua Zhe Lei, the most quiet member of F4. Meanwhile, Shan Cai's braveness has made Dao Ming Si attracted to her. He starts to do anything to make Shan Cai notice him, even with his richness. Shan Cai is not impressed. She's more attracted to Lei, although Lei has fallen in love for Jing, a famous model who lives in France. When Shan Cai finally meets Jing, she admires Jing, that Jing is a nice, pretty and almost-perfect woman. In the meantime, Ah Si finds out that Shan Cai is attracted to Lei, instead of himself, and gets angry thinking that Shan Cai has been playing his feeling. Shan Cai doesn't understand why Ah Si has been that angry.  She doesn't know anything about Ah Si's feeling for her. After the problem solved, at her birthday party, Jing announces that she will move to France and stay there for a long time. Lei follows Jing for some times. Meanwhile, Ah Si's get closer to Shan Cai and started to dating. But after Lei go back, everything get more complicated. Lei has broken up with Jing, and he starts to has a feeling to Shan Cai. In the other hand, although Shan Cai has started to open her heart for Ah Si, she's still has a feeling for Lei.

My Opinion:

I do love this drama. The storyline is very-very good. Well i haven't read the manga, but i'm sure the manga is as good as the drama. Many peeps who already read the manga doesn't really like the drama version, except maybe if they're attacted to F4 :) But i do love the drama version. I don't really understand about the acting or filming things. All that i know is that i enjoyed the drama, i bought the whole VCD series, and i watched it and watched it again. Almost everyday. *LOL* My favorite scenes are when Dao Ming Si told Shan Cai that he loves Shan Cai and chased the bus where Shan Cai entered, then he fell tiredly. After that Shan Cai decided to get out of the bus and run to Dao Ming Si. It was romantic, you know. :) Another one, is when Shan Cai gives Dao Ming Si her hand-made cookies that looks like Dao Ming Si's faces, for Dao Ming Si's birthday gift, and Dao Ming Si seems soooo happy and he acts like a little boy. He wakes Hua Zhe Lei up just to show him the cookies. He also shows the cookies to the F3. *LOL* It was funny.
