Murphy was my 'once in a lifetime' dog. Never intending to keep a male he somehow stayed
with us. He was the son of two Champions, line bred to CH.Sandylands Mark.
Success came from his first show at 6 months old and continued until he retired as a veteran.
His first CC came at just over a year old, from Mrs Bridget Docking (Ballyduff), his second
from Mrs Gwen Broadley (Sandylands) and his third CC and title from
Mr Geof Robinson (Mallardhurn). Need we say more.
Still winning CC's as a veteran Murphy's 36 CC's made him the CC record holder at that time
(he is still the top winning black of all time). Amongst his other wins were 26 BOB's, 24 RCC's,
several times Runner up in Group, Champion and Veteran Stakes finalist, numerous
BIS at Labrador Club shows. He also gained his Show Gundog Working Certificate
(SGWC) to become a full Champion.
He was D-W's Top Labrador in 1982 & 1984, & sire of Champions both in Britain and abroad,
a Group winner, FT & WT award winners.
Murphy appears behind many top winning Labradors today.
He was a very special dog, a pleasure to live with and he made many friends throughout his life.
He lives on through all his descendants. Most of all he was my 'best' friend. |
