On this day in P1atter History...

"Please stop apologising or vehemently not apologising and backbiting"

2/3/1997

Subject: More correspondence

To all of you [authors of the open letter],

I have received further e-mails from some of you and would make the following replies,

  1. You are right the way the message was delivered has caused people to focus on the medium not the message, a pity for you and we all have to get beyond this.
  2. Please stop apologising or vehemently not apologising and backbiting amongst each other. It serves no good purpose what was done was done and the delivery of the message was not acceptable.
  3. The emotion and the sense of not having been listened to really matters to me and the board.
  4. Your opinions are relevant and having been fully listened to anything may change and it is possible that nothing will change. This does not mean that you will not have been listened to.
  5. Any copying in or not is due to my own mistake.
  6. Try and air any fears you have early in the week they will get in the way of authentic communication and there is nothing wrong in having fears and airing them.

I am looking forward to the progress we can all make this week and I will see you on Friday afternoon.

Thanks,

Brian
