Their Powers and My Thoughts on Them

Okay, as we know some of the Celestial Warriors have outstanding powers, while others make you stop and think, what was the point of them. So I've been thinking, and this can be a scary thing, that maybe since some of them weren't as old as Nakago or Chichiri, perhaps all of their powers hadn't evolved yet. So in this section I will explain what their powers were in the series/manga and anything else they used to fight, heal or anything interesting that was unique, and I'm also going to share some of my ideas of what their powers may have become if they had lived to explore them. So enough rambling let's get to the powers.

They are listed in constellation groups, starting with Suzaku, Seiryuu, Genbu and  Byakko.

preparing one of his energy blasts

Constellation: Nakago

Celestial Powers: Powerful chi (life force) blasts, he can also use telekinesis to hold people in place, and make them move. Also an excellent fighter. He's had a lot of time to practice all his skills so he just generally kicks butt in all areas of fighting and has mastered his powers long ago.

Since he first learned of his powers Nakago has been training hard to master them and become an unstoppable force. So it makes sense that he is the strongest Celestial warrior in the Universe of the Four Gods, and that he has such strong control over his abilities. A good example of this is when Miaka comes and visits him in his tent. She is pinned to the tent wall and thrown to the ground without Nakago even moving from his chair. Actually he doesn't even raise an eyebrow when he uses his telekinesis to torture Miaka. Later in the series he uses this ability again to bombard someone with rocks. While he does this he carries on an easy conversation as if this skill required no effort of him what so ever.

Even though he could probably kill people with his telekinetic abilities that is not the weapon he usually uses. He prefers to blast people with his blue life force. He holds out his hand and a powerful chi blast shoots at his enemy. Any normal person on the receiving end of them will die instantly, when Tamahome is on the receiving end or other celestial warriors they are usually just badly injured. Although Nakago, when his symbol is glowing, can make his blast strong enough to destroy anything in his path.

Another nifty trick of his is that he can put up protective barriers that people can not break through. A good example is the one he puts around Yui, and Miaka try as she might with her body or with a rock can not break the barrier. He also puts it up on himself when he is in battle and arrows were being shot at him. For the most part it appeared as Nakago was indestructible and all powerful. For most of the series he truly is, his abilities far surpass Tamahome's and his knowledge on tactics also makes him a powerful enemy

Nakago carries a sword with him always, but I don't recall ever watching him use it. Although I'm sure most people would agree with me that his sword skills could probably rival that of Hotohori's if he ever had a mind to do so. Another skill  he has, which isn't really a weapon is how he manipulates people. He convinced all of the Seiryuu warriors and Yui that he was their friend and that they should serve him, or die for him, or use their final wish on him.

Constellation: Amiboshi

Celestial Powers: Uses his flute to enhance his life force/chi which comes from his mouth. He can use it to heal or destroy.

Playing his flute to make the enemy suffer

Amiboshi is Suboshi's twin, but their powers are quite different. Amiboshi's powers came to him earlier than Suboshi's did. So he has more control over his powers at the beginning of the series. He uses his music to destroy evil mercenary type people who are attacking Tamahome's family and the gang. He then uses his music to sooth Tamahome's little sister into a peaceful sleep. During the series you will often see him playing the flute to help relax people, to give them courage or just to entertain.

Later we find out that he didn't really do this out of the goodness of his heart. The more people hear his music the more of his energy corrupts them and it becomes easier for him to manipulate them with his life force. He did this before he played his soul splitter tune. However the melody was not perfect because his heart was not in it so it made the song weaker. Also a counter melody interrupted the waves of his song and life force and stopped him from doing anymore harm.

Amiboshi doesn't need a flute to damage, it's just that anyone who hears the flute music will be effective making it a much more destructive weapon. All he really needs is his breath. He healed Miaka this way. She was ill and he breathed his life force in her hoping that it would be enough.

Amiboshi is also able to communicate with his brother and detect his life force when he uses powers, he can also feel his pain, and if it occurs his death. they communicate just by writing on there skin, the message then shows up on the other twin in the same location. Although it does hurt a bit.

He doesn't really have any other powers but he does have guts, not a lot of people would throw themselves in to a flooded river, or break their own pinkie finger (and still keep playing the flute).

suboshi with is ryozuken

Constellation: Suboshi

Celestial Power: Uses Telekinesis to manipulate his Ryozuken (shooting stars or what fans affectionately call yo-yos)

At the beginnings of the series, Suboshi is not a master over his abilities, he even says so. That is why Amiboshi was sent to the Suzaku group not him. Through out the series we see him practicing with his Shooting Stars constantly. So it's not surprise that by the end of the series he has many more abilities than he did when we first see him.

Subsohi's most prominent weapon are his "yo-yo's of death" he uses them early in the series to kill a whole family with no trouble. He controls them telekinetically making the float and spin dangerously as they ram into people's bodies killing them. As the series progresses he continues to practice his techniques and when he faces off with Tamahome in the city he shows off his new trick. The balls of his shooting star weapon detach from its string and Suboshi sends it after Tamahome. The ball is able to turn corners and follow Tamahome through a snaking path of twists and turns even though Suboshi can not see him, and is not really even concentrating on him.

If his power had evolved that much over the few months imagine how powerful he may have been if he had had a year or two to practice. He may have been able to control people as Nakago did, making them float or throw them to the ground with out batting an eye lash. The only question I have is what made Suboshi practice his telekinetic skills with his yo-yo's instead of some other weapon, or no weapon at all.

Another skill of Suboshi is one he shares with his twin. If either one writes on his arm the message will appear on the other's arm in a matter of seconds. This way of communicating hurts them slightly, but it is a great way to send secret messages over a long distance undetected.

Constellation: Soi

Celestial Power: Can manipulate the weather, especially Thunder and lightning. Also is skilled in the art of love making that can increase or decrease your life force by doing so.

Constellation: Tomo

Celestial Power: An expert of illusions, he can trap people mentally inside illusions or physically inside his shell.

Constellation: Miboshi

Celestial Power: Can posses other people's bodies and take complete control over them. Prefers children and the weak minded

Constellation: Ashitare

Celestial Power: Half-man, Half-wolf, he has great strength, sense of smell and overall wolf like powers. Also once killed he will lose the human side and become a complete wolf.

We don't get to see a lot of Ashitare to know a ton about his powers but we do know that he can sniff scents of people and can track them like a wolf does. He also mentions how he likes to eat people especially they young, so this just adds to his wolfishness. Other then that Ashitare is also very strong, and uses brute force to fight his opponents. His strength is equal or greater than that of Nuriko's.

Another power Ashitare has is one that only he and Nakago seemed to have known about. If Ashitare is killed only his human half will die and he will transform completely into a wolf. As a   wolf he can still think as human, but is completely wolf like other than that. He does not even have the ability to speak.
