Winter 2002
Welcome to the first issue of the TS Newsletter of the New Year!
We will review the last couple of months for 2001 and some of the
new things we will see in 2002.
Christmas Wishes from Mr. Culp
As many of you know by now, we received a Christmas
card from Mr. Culp to all his fans. In the card he
thanked the fans for his Birthday present. (Dinner
and a book about fatherhood) and told us the twins
are doing well and getting cuter every day.
"To all my friends at "Totally Steven", The SC Fan
Connection and the Webb/Culp Mailing list-
The happiest of holidays to all of you! Every year
I seem to say the same thing, but it still holds
true, I appreciate and value your support and I
thank you for all the time and energy you give.
It really means a lot to me.
Wishing you a 2002 filled with happiness, love
and PEACE! All my best,
Steven Culp.
Thank you Mr. Culp for taking the time to remember your fans! We appreciate it!
We hope 2002 will be a successful year for you and your family.
Christmas 2001.
We wanted to once again thank everyone who participated in the Christmas
projects in honor of Mr. Steven Culp. Totally Steven was able to make
true the Christmas wishes of 10 foster children, and donated two food
baskets for Christmas dinner to two families. This was done in lieu of
sending Mr. Culp a Christmas gift.
We received thank you letters from the Florence Critteton Center and the
Sugar Plum Organization, who sponsored the Toy drive:
"On Behalf of the membership of Friends of Foster Children, I would
like to extend our sincere gratitude for your participation in the 25th
Annual Sugar Plum Tree Project.
Over the years, FOFC's Sugar Plum Tree has allowed us to distribute
thousands of gifts to the thousands of children in the many foster care
facilities. While our volunteer members stay busy all year long working
to raise funds and provide such items as clothing, school supplies and
medical and dental assistance, Sugar Plum is our most time and labor
intensive endeavor. No other project provides us such satisfaction and
sense of true accomplishment. It is people's generosity and kindness
at this time of year that helps make this project a positive experience
and allows us to make the children's Christmas wishes come true.
We truly appreciate your support and thank you for sharing our goal of
making life better for children in foster care facilities. We hope to
see you again next year.
Hanne Johnson-2001 Sugar Plum Chair
Note: Our group's name even made it to their monthly newsletter!
Thanks to the special Webbies who opened their hearts to make this
possible. We are looking forward to next year!
Latest Update from JAG Fan Fest 2001
Organizers of the Fan Fest that took place this past October in Los Angeles,
were thrilled to receive a very nice letter from the Navy and Marine Corps
Relief Society Pentagon Assistance Fund, in response to the donation made
in name of JAG fans for the Sept 11th Disaster Relief Fund. You can read
the letter at the Fan Fest Website.
Fans also heard from Harriet at Bellisarious Productions when she recently
forwarded this to the fans:
"I would like to share part of a letter we received from Admiral J.L.Johnson,
U.S.Navy (Ret.), who is President of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society:
"Using your entertaining program as the catalyst to generate a thoughtful and
generous contribution to the Pentagon Assistance Fund is commendable. As a
career Navy fighter pilot, I enjoy and appreciate JAG too."
He ended by noting: "We appreciate the benevolent support of our JAG fans!"
Once again, our fandom has done us proud. We can only echo the Admiral's
sentiments toward you all.
Best, Harriet
Donald Bellisario also sent a letter about the fest to the fest organizer,
demonstrating what a nice man he is with the fans.
"You and your fellow fan club hosts, including their members, are much
appreciated by all of us at Valencia and Sunset-Gower.
Please extend Happy New Year wishes to everyone who participated in your
successful FanFest event.
Warmest regards,
Donald P. Bellisario Executive Producer

to have taken part in such a wonderful event, thanks to
all the fans who supported us and the JAG Fan Fest.

Webbies had a Merry Christmas because Webb was
back! It was brief, oh so brief, but BACK! The
first look we have of Webb is…somewhere. Judging
from the booming noises and the big fireballs
outside the window, it isn’t a place full of the
Christmas spirit. Webb is doing what he does so
well, talking on his cell phone. He is talking
to Harm, who is having difficulty making out what
Webb is saying. Explosions will do that; make it
hard to hear. Webb blames the noise on a nephew
and the chemistry set Webb got him for Christmas.
Classic Webb! Webb ignores any further comments
from Harm regarding his surroundings; Webb has
something else he is trying to tell Harm.
As Webb is talking to Harm, he is looking out
the window and notices that the fireballs with
accompanying explosions are getting much, much
closer, and dives for the floor. Not a moment
to soon either, as he is hit with flying glass
and other debris. But Webb keeps his cool... he
never drops the phone. Ever. When we last see
him, he is brushing glass shards out of his hair
with one hand and holding on to his phone with
the other. What he was trying to tell Rabb we
don’t know.
When we next see Clay, he is in the back of a
helicopter, a very noisy helicopter. He has once
again called Harm and is trying to continue the
conversation that was rudely interrupted by
explosions and flying glass earlier. Harm can’t
make out what Webb is trying to say, and the
connection is lost once again. Harm, however,
has bigger concerns than Webb’s lousy cell phone
service. Harm is trying to find his missing car.
The last time Webbies get to see their man is
at the Vietnam Memorial. Harm spends every
Christmas Eve here, visiting his father. A
note stuck in the wall with his dad’s name on
it snags his attention. He reads it and then
hears Sergi’s voice behind him. Before Sergi
can explain to Harm how he got to DC, Webb steps
out of the shadows. Clay then reveals that he
traded favors and spent the last eighteen hours
on the road in order to get him to DC in time for
Christmas. Webb gives the brothers a slight smile
before turning to go. (He did, but if you blinked
you might’ve missed it, but it was there!) Harm
and Sergi learned what we Webbies have known all
along…under that trenchcoat beats a heart of gold.
Philly
By Carol Preflatish
Steven Culp fans were thrilled when we were
treated to Steven appearing in two consecutive
episodes of the ABC show, "Philly."
Steve portrayed police detective John O'Brien,
who we first see at the courthouse looking for
public defender, Kathleen McGuire, played by Kim
Delaney. Kathleen had witnessed a robbery the
night before and John finds her to let her know
they won't need her after all. They have already
made an arrest. Kathleen tells him that they have
arrested the wrong man. The detective is amused.
Steven flashes a great smile here.
Kathleen won't tell him who did the robbery, but
does not want an innocent man to go to jail. She
knows that the person who did the robbery was one
of her clients. Later, she talks her client into
going to the police station with her to turn himself
in. He agrees and we next see Kathleen talking to
John about her client. She persuades him into letting
her client go. But, when Kathleen starts to leave John
confesses something to her. He tells her that the day
he ran into her at the courthouse was no accident. He
really went there to ask her out. She agrees to think
about it and John is pleased to hear that. Then, he
smiles and tells her the real reason he agreed to let
her client go was because he knows he will be back in
jail in three months.
This episode ends with Kathleen sitting at a bar after
work. She had just had a drink with her law partner
before he had to go. Sitting alone, she takes out her
cell phone and calls John. She tells him she would
like to go out with him and they set a date for dinner
and drinks.
With the way they first episode ended, fans were sure
that Steven would return for another episode. Happily,
we were right. We don't get to see Steven in many scenes,
but the one's he was in were excellent.
Second episode
Boston Public
By Sandra Martinez
This was definitely a show that got fans talking
and not all of the comments were good. By the
comments we received & those posted to the mailing
list, the majority of the fans were, shall I say,
upset with this episode of "Boston Public," a
series that some fans vowed never to watch again,
and others described as painfully real.
The storyline that involved our wonderful Steven
left a lot to be desire; not from Steven who was
excellent in his portrayal, but the development
and ending of it.
Steven portrayed the father of a 15-year-old girl
who has sex with a classmate who is 18 years old
and legally an adult. When they find out about it,
they are obviously upset and go as far as calling
the police to file charges of rape against the young
man. The story was going fine until a teacher comes
to the defense of the young man. True, the sex was
consensual, but it was between a minor and an adult
and the parents of the young girl had a right to be
upset and expect some action from the school, which
they failed to get.
Steven's character is angry through out the episode,
and Steven did a great job expressing the range of
feelings the father was going through. But the last
scene in which the father confronts the teacher one
last time was the fans favorite. We could see the
pain and anger in his eyes, at the realization that
he has to drop the legal action agaisnt the young man.
Putting his daughter on the stand would embarrass her
and make her the target of harassement. He can't do
that to his daughter. Steven did the scene beautifully,
but it appeared to leave a bad taste in many fans, who
criticized and attacked the teacher's conduct.
This was a controversial topic that got some discussions
going among fans. The one point we could all agree on
was that Steven gave a great performance and that he was
looking very handsome in that one last scene. Even though
the episode and the setting of the series was not well
received by fans in general, Steven's work in it was.
It was Steven after all the only reason many if us watched
this series for the first time. It is more than likely
that it was also the last time fans watched the show as
well. That is unless Steven decides to appear on it again!
Steven goes to outer space !
Steven Culp will make an appearance on the next "Star Trek"
movie. Production on "Star Trek: Nemesis" has started and
as part of the film's supporting cast will be our wonderful
Steven Culp. He will portray Commander Madden, who takes
over as Enterprise-E first officer at the end of the film.
Now the fans are wondering if we will get to see Steven in
one of those "cool looking" Starfleet uniforms! Or will he
be some type of Alien? Trekkie Webbies tell us chances are
that he will be "human". We are keeping our fingers crossed!
The photo on the right is obviously not real, it is only
a funny composition by a creative webbie
Don't forget to watch for Steven, in the movie "Palace Thief"
opening in the fall of 2002!
New photos of Steven!
We are happy to have some new photos of Steven from his
appearance at last year's Berlin Film Festival. Enjoy!

their own "Clay" Bear. This cute teddy bear is part of the
Ty Attic Treasures Collection. A fellow Webbie found it in
time for Christmas, and "The Steven Culp Fan Connection" was
happy to give two away in contests that took place last month.
Congratulations to the winners!
