Review- Second Episode of Philly
In the next episode, we see Kathleen walking up a crowded
staircase at the courthouse, while trying to read a document.
She dodges people as she ascends the steps, until she sees a
pair of shoes below that document that won't get out of her
way. She moves right, so do the feet. She moves left, the feed
do, too. She finally looks up to find John smiling down at her.
They chit-chat a bit and confirm their date as they walk
together down the hallway.
The main story of this episode has to do with Kathleen
representing a known rapist, Diego Flores, who has been
arrested. She has to show the court that the police illegally
obtained evidence that would convict Flores for the rape of
several women. Her family and friends are not happy that she is
representing Flores. Everyone tries to talk her into asking for
a continuance on the case, giving the police more time to find
more evidence. Since Kathleen is a very honest attorney, she
sticks to her ethics and succeeds in getting the evidence
thrown out. Flores is released.
Near the end of the show, John shows up at Kathleen's office.
He tells her that Flores was just shot and killed by a police
officer. Since it appears they are on opposite sides of this,
they have a disagreement over her client. John asks if she
still wants to go out that evening. "So, what do you want to
do, Kathleen? Do you want to go out and have that drink? You
tell me your life story and I'll tell you mine, see if the
electrons pick up any speed." What a great line.
They agree that they are always going to be on opposing and
they cancel their date. His last words to her before going out
the door were, "I'll see you around." So, does this leave it
wide open for Detective John O'Brien to maybe show up again in
a future episode? The Webbies sure hope so.
