Comments from "Enterprise" Fans, not SC fans. (They also liked the MACOS and Hayes!) "The MACO team was definitely a good addition to the crew, and I thought the animosity shown by Malcolm was realistic and to be expected given what we already know about his character. My only complaint was with the MACO uniform; not sure what feelings they were meant to inspire, but they looked as if someone had puked all over them." "The MACO people are interesting" "The MACO's are a great addition. I hope they keep them up because it was awesome to see humans out there kicking ass" "The MACO characters didn't get much show here but I think there is definitely potential. Culp stole the scene in his brief inter- change with Reed and other than their icky casino-ceiling costumes, I look forward to seeing how the MACOs shake things up on the ship" "On a more positive note, kudos to the MACO attack on the mine! It was perfectly timed and flawlessly executed. For once I felt Enterprise has sufficiently exploited what a group of characters brings to the storyline. The MACO team has at once earned their credentials and explained why they're so necessary to the Enterprise starship on such a crucial mission." "I can't wait to see what other conflicts of interest come up between Hayes and our boy Reed. Their style was effective, and I would personally like to see one or more of Reed's people die in an upcoming ep before he realizes that they need the MACOs in order to succeed. I especially liked the way one of the MACOs dealt with the shooter near the shuttle. That action just solidifies the need for the MACOs in the first place." "Especially liked the MACO units. They are indeed an "Elite Force" "I hope the rivalry between Reed and Hayes, continues. In particular, Reed and Hayes should have sort of a Sloane/Bashir type. But in order to have REAL story potential, MACO needs to evolve into a sort of forerunner to Section 31." "We were introduced to the MACO's, who were all tall, handsome and buff. They were tough, no-nonsense types who can't take a silly joke from Hoshi. I guess they have to be one-dimensional to be able to effectively kick Xindi ass. I was impressed with their military abilities, though. They appeared out of nowhere with the stealth and precision of a seasoned assault team that would make the Navy SEALS proud. Their uniforms need revision, though. The black and silver looked cheap." "I liked that the troops were allowed some humanity--getting space sick, hailing from Minnesota-- and weren't immediately cast as the tight-ass gung-ho bad guys" "The one thing they did do right was add the MACO team. SWAT in Space." Comments from the SC fanatics! "SC maintained his military bearing and adopted a subtle persuasive tone in order to make his case. Approaching Reed from a higher level to make his point was a bit intimidating for the shorter man and put Hayes in physical alliance with T'Pol (who later agreed with Hayes' argument). Although the camera angle was off for full effectiveness (Reed blocked Hayes' camera), the two-on-one approach was good for the scene. In fact, it almost made the viewer sympathetic towards Reed's petty remarks once Hayes had exited the room" "Brief shuttle scene: Hayes and his men are receiving last minute instructions-- not much for an actor to do but listen and nod. I've noted this before (from "13 Days"), but SC has a way of listening that makes you think that if you had recited a grocery list, he would think it quite interesting." "The rescue scene: The dark lighting could drive a person crazy, but if SC utilized a stunt double, it was extremely well-concealed. Hayes knocks out one unfriendly with a quick blow from the butt of his assault rifle, then takes out another with a laser blast. Both actions seem effortless & instinctive for Hayes. Hovering near Archer, he helps in securing the area and signals an order to one of his men inside the shuttle. Scene ends with Hayes assisting one of his injured men up the stairs." "I liked the MACO uniforms, a little paintsplatter camo look good -but either they weren't tight enough, or I would have liked a shot from down below in the plasma tube looking up at Hayes climbing. CAN WE GET HAYES TO LOSE HIS SHIRT, TOO? A RATINGS GRABBER!!" "What a gentleman, he was the first to rise at the table when the Com Officer came in, and he saved the life of one of his officers - a hero as well. I didn't see any competitional snarkiness from Hayes at all. He was just doing his job, which was acknowledged at the end." "The hair - yes it was overgelled, but hey, it looked great slicked back and we wouldn't want "The Lock" to be damaged when skulking around all that mining equipment." "I would be remiss if I didn't mention THE NECK - did you notice how the lighting emphasized how strong and noble it is. I watched my tape (2x) until 1 AM this morning and I am still GEFLEMNK and recovering!!!" "BUFF....That's the word that came to my mind when I saw him stand up at that table---totally buff. Has he been living at a gym for the past two months or what?" "Is it just me or does SC look younger every time I see him?" "The whole package (Bode and Hair) looked great" "He looked great!!! Oh and that voice, I just love that man's voice! He makes a great MACO. I wish there was moreof him in the episode, and wish we would get more of him in the series" "My god does Steven Culp look amazing. I never thought he could ever look better than he already does, but I was wrong, wrong, wrong. He is one sexy man and that uniform just makes him more delicious!!!" "I enjoyed it very much. I can see how Steven's character may or may not be recurring. He seems to provide the kind of tension that isn't needed through every episode, although can provide some intresting undercurrents in the future. As much as I would like to see him more often the likelyhood of that probably isn't too great"
