Winter 2003
Several months have passed since our last regular issue of the "TotallySteven" Journal was
posted. During that time the JAGFanFest ’03 took place and fans have had the opportunity
to see our wonderful Steven in different roles.
We have seen the number of members increase and decrease several times in the last few
months due to the changes in "Webbie Fandom". The one thing that has remained
constant
through it all, is our love for the incredible talent of our wonderful Steven.
This issue of the journal is simply a review of the last few months, and time to celebrate
a couple of important occasions.
Happy Birthday Steven!
December 3rd
First of all we want to wish Steven a wonderful birthday!!! We hope he gets to celebrate his
birthday surrounded by friends and family. Everyone wishes him a very happy birthday and
many, many more!!
A fan of SC, known to many of us as “Webby Hayes”, came up with a Special "Dictionary", titled
"Webbster's Dictionary - S.peC.ial Edition" which contains a variey of terms inspired by Steven,
Webb, his roles, his fans and filled with funny and weird definitions. WebbyHayes put together
this “Dictionary” to send to Steven as a birthday gift. If he didn't know how crazy some
of his fans are, he will now.
"TotallySteven" is sending Steven in name of his fans, the book "Book of Honor", which several
Webbies have read. It is a favorite of many of us as it deals with the real stories of those
heroes on the "Wall of Honor" as seen in the JAG episode "Need to Know".
Christmas is around the corner
Christmas is once again upon us and as we do every year, we are asking everyone to join in our
special Christmas project. As many of you already know, every Christmas fans of Steven Culp
collect toys to send to foster children in honor of Steven. As he has stated in years
prior, he prefers this to receiving gifts for himself. It shows what a wonderful, down to
earth, kind hearted man he is. So to continue our tradition in his honor we will again be
collecting toys this year.
This Christmas we are asking fans to send a toy for a boy or girl between the ages of 1 and 12.
The toys will be donated to foster children through the “Spark of Love” program that is set up
by Fire Departments in Steven’s state of residence, California.
If you are interested and able to take part in this program please contact us and we will send
you our mailing address. We are aiming at collecting 20 toys to bring some joy to 20 foster
children who otherwise would not receive a gift this holiday season.
We are also doing something a little different this year. This Christmas we will not only be
collecting toys for foster children, but we would also like to put together a "Christmas Care
Package” for our brave men and women in the military that will spend this Christmas away from
home in Iraq.
We are asking for small items to send to them along with Christmas cards. Every little bit
helps, and if you can not send an item, please send Christmas cards to cheer them up this
Christmas!
If you are interested in being a part of any of the above projects please email us at
culpfan@yahoo.com
Let's keep the tradition going and in this way send a big thank you to Steven
for all the wonderful hours of entertainment he provides all of us.
News From Steven
As most of you already know, we recently heard from Steven. He wanted to thank everyone that
worked on the Fest and expressed he was impressed by the various goodies we had available at
our booth and the Fest.
He also wanted to let us know that he is filming another episode of "Enterprise",
no air date at this time) and had finished an episode of “The Brotherhood of Poland, N.H”
(Sadly the series was canceled before the episode aired.)
Steven will also be filming an episode of JAG in January, with another episode probably
following after that.
Steven also said he enjoyed working on “The West Wing”:
"It's just a terrific show to work on. I'm hoping
there will be more of them in the future"
Steven also wanted to thank the fans:
"Best wishes to all those loyal fans. Thanks
for continuing to be so supportive eventhough
not all are enjoying the show"
All the Best,
Steven Culp
Steven on TV
In the last few months we have had the opportunity to enjoy watching Steven on a variety of
roles. This is our “character corner” to review the various roles we have seen Steven in.
Clayton Webb on JAG
Fans had the opportunity to see Steven as the
sexy spy “Clayton Webb” on the TV show JAG on
several occasions. Starting back in May we saw
him in the season finale trilogy which consisted
of the episodes: “Lawyers, Guns and Money, “Pax
De Deux” and “Tangled Webb”.
The trilogy was quite controversial as it caused
an uproar among JAG fandom that included harsh
criticism from some fans and praises from others.
In the middle of all this was the character of Webb.
While some fans loved what they saw, a majority
considered the trilogy a character assassination
of the once mysterious and enigmatic Webb.
During these three episodes fans watched as Webb
went undercover in Paraguay with Mac posing as his
pregnant wife, and fans found themselves crying,
laughing, loving and hating the new twists. After
the trilogy had ended, the only thing fans, Webbies
and non-webbies alike, were able to agree on was the
marvelous job that Steven did in these episodes. As
usual he was magnificent handling difficult scenes
that included torture and incredible pain. We were
all in awe of Steven’s acting ability once again.
And even though this trilogy may be remembered by
some fans as the “trilogy from hell,” it will also
be remembered as some of Steven’s best acting on
the small screen.
In September, fans were also able to see more of
Steven as Clayton Webb when the new season for JAG
started, with the episodes “Tangled Webb II” and
“Shifting Sands.”

House Speaker Jeff Haffley
Steven has been wonderful in his role of the
Republican Speaker of the House on the series
"The West Wing". His character has been a thorn
in the side of President Barttle (Portrayed by
Martin Sheen) since the very first time he
appeared on the show.
Starting with the episode “Jeferson Lives".
Haffley pushed his weight around by influencing
the President's decison on who the VicePresident
would be. The second time he appeared on the
show was in the episode "Separation of Powers".
Again Haffley goes head to head with the President
resulting in a government shutdown when they do
not come to an agreement on the budget.
We see Steven again in the episode “Shutdown”
where he is at the center of a disastrous
fiscal crisis and his character, who is
described as “the powerful GOP House Speaker,
engages in a war of wills with the President.
This is one character that all the fans appear
to agree on so far: We all LOVE seeing Steven
in this role. He is great portraying this
powerful character and we are enjoying every
of bit Steven on this show. "The West Wing"
is an incredible show, with wonderful writers
and it has been critically acclaimed by many.
It is great to see Steven in a series like this,
and we hope he gets to guest star in many more
episodes.

Major Hayes
In the television series "Enterprise" Steven portrays
Major Hayes. Hayes is the leader of the "MACO" unit:
"Military Assault Command Operations". This team is
like a group of commandos or you may even call them
"space marines" or "SEALs in the sky".
Steven's first appearance was in the episode "The
Xindi" in which Hayes and his men go rescue Archer
(portrayed by the wonderful actor Scott Bakula) when
he is captured while he searches for information on
the Xindis on an unfriendly planet.
Steven looked incredible in this episode. Fans
could not stop talking about how sexy he looked
and how wonderful he was in his scene with Reed.
Steven projects a great leader with a natural
command presence.
Next Steven appeared in the episode "The Shipment".
In this episode Hayes, Archer and Reed infiltrate
a complex that is occupied by Xindi-Sloth. They
go there in search of information about a weapon
that is being produced to attack earth in the
future. Steven did not have much to do in this
episode, but he still looked incredibly good!
Steven is filming a third episode of "Enterprise"
and fans can't wait to see Major Hayes again!

Lyon's Den
Steven Culp fans waited with great anticipation
for his appearance on NBC's show "The Lyon's Den"
starring Rob Lowe, as Jack Turner. Steven played
Paul Manning, Turner's old buddy and best friend.
The first time we see Steven he is at a dinner
party with his wife and he is wearing a tuxedo.
Yes, he looked wonderful! SC knows how to wear
a tuxedo WELL, and fans enjoy every oportunity
we have to see him looking so sexy!
During the dinner, Manning is arrested for major
securities exchange violations and embezzlement.
Manning admits to some wrong doing to Turner who
becomes his defense attorney. Turner becomes
confused as he prepares to defend him. Even more
so when Manning's in-laws obstruct his defense.
Most fans thought that the best part of the show
is when after his arrest, Steven's character meets
with Turner to discuss his defense. Steven gets to
yell his head off in an exhange with Jack in jail.
You can see the hurt and pain of betrayal in SC's
eyes. He is asking his friend to trust him and we
can see the sense of desperation in his eyes.
Superb acting on Steven's part!
The storyline gets more complicated as the episode
progresses. Needless to say Steven was great in
every scene he was in. It would have been great to
see SC show up in this series again. (Rumors are
that NBC will not be renewing the show)
One last note. We have to say that Steven looked
great the entire episode. From his tuxedo look to
his "night in jail" look and even in that orange
prison jumper, he looked wonderful!

At this time the Fest continues to raise more funds for

JAGFanFest website.

Steven mentioned on TV GUIDE On Line
Last month there was a question about Steven posted on the TV Guide on Line website:
(From the Ask Matt Section)
"What is the story with this guy, Steven Culp? Just in this season alone I have seen
him in guest-starring roles in Enterprise (as a member of the new commando unit),
on JAG (as the CIA guy that Mac was helping out in the season premiere), on West
Wing (as the Republican that derailed the staff's first choice for vice president)
and on Lyon's Den (as the guy that Rob Lowe defended on last week's episode) This
guy is busy! My friends and I are already starting to place bets on the next show
he'll pop up in. Right now the top runners are Law & Order, 24 and Joan of Arcadia.
Chris S.
Matt:
"All right! A big shout-out to all of those in-demand character-actor guest stars in
Hollywood. I've also noticed how ubiquitous Steven Culp has been lately. Another
thing: He tends to be good at what he does. No wonder he's always working."
(TS Staff Note: As all his fans know, he has already guest starred on “24”. Yes,
our wonderful Steven gets around and we LOVE IT!)
Note from the TotallySteven Staff
As time passes some of us may start to forget what is going on around us. We want to
take advantage of this holiday season, to remind everyone that many of our men and women
in the military are still miles away from home. Serving their country in a far away place,
away from family and friends they need our support now more than ever. A simple letter,
card, a care package, are things easy for us to do that mean a lot to them.
Please visit the emailourmilitary website for ideas and easy ways to help and support
our troops.
