Dear
FANHS-San Diego Members and Friends,
We
want to thank you for your continuing support. Your support has continued
to help play an important part in promoting and disseminating Filipino
American history. At this time, we are asking for donations for a future
event we hope to happen in San Diego on May 12th.
We
are currently seeking donations to help us bring Maria P.P. Root, Ph.D.
to San Diego. Her most recently published book is titled Love's Revolution,
which addresses interracial marriages. Tentative plans are for a May
12, 2001 appearance at a conference to be held at Miramar College. Your
donations will help us offset marketing and advertising costs, and your
name will also be included in the program which will be distributed
at the event and your name will also appear on the FANHS-SAN Diego website
under the sponsorship categories listed below.
Maria P.P. Root, Ph.D. is a Clinical Psychologist and independent scholar.
Her interests focus on race relations, trauma, the mental health of
people of color and women, and multiracial families and individuals.
She has written and edited several books and authored numerous articles
and chapters. She has been awarded the Washington State Psychological
Association's Distinguished Psychologists Award, the Filipino American
National Historical Society's (FANHS) VIP Award (Seattle Chapter), leadership
awards from the American Psychological Association (APA), and distinguished
career awards from APA and the Asian American Psychological Association.
Dr. Root is the editor of Racially Mixed People in America, The Multiracial
Experience: Racial Borders as the New Frontier, and Filipino
Americans: Transformation and Identity.
FANHS-San Diego will include your name on the program for the event
and on the website, unless you specify otherwise.
The
sponsorship categories will be as follows:
Platinum
Sponsorship: $250 and above
Gold Sponsorship: $100-$249
Silver Sponsorship: $50-$99
Bronze Sponsorship: $10-$49
If
you are interested in donating, please send a check made out to FANHS-SAN
DIEGO and note "Maria Root" on the check. A receipt is available upon
request.
