Here is my CVA .45 caliber, Kentucky rifle kit. I acquired this several years ago from a fellow who got it back in the late 70's. While not the highest quality of kits, I figured it had sat around long enough. Also, it's a project I can make (the intevitable) mistakes on.

Here it is. I've already polished most of the brass, and started on the buttstock by the time this shot was taken. I used 120-, 220-, then 400-grit on the brass to remove the tarnish and machine marks. Then hit it with a dremel polishing wheel with 'medium' polish applied to the felt wheel from a 'stick'.

This is the area around the lock. I have inletted the lock and added a little carving to fore and aft of the plate. Also, made a simple design behind the tang on top. The fitting of the buttplate required a lot of patient work, but taking it slowly, it eventually fit pretty well.

I've started on the forestock here. This is a simple carving added just behind the ramrod entry thimble. I intend to take a lot of wood off of the forestock to make it as slim as possible.
