AMAZONA ALBIFRONS XANTHOLORA: Yucatan peninsula; South Mexico and Belize, also offshore islands Cozumel and Roastan.
AMAZONA ALBIFRONS ALBIFRONS lives in dry Savannah and forest lands. AMAZONA ALBIFRONS NANA in rain forest. AMAZONA ALBIFRONS XANTHOLORA prefers decidious woods and light rain forests.
Length: ca. 26 cm.
Palm fruits, figs, berries, leaf buds.
Plumage: general green, feathers with dark edges, white forehead, lores and eye-region red. Border of wing red (missing in females). Base of tail-feathers red. AMAZONA ALBIFRONS SALTUENSIS has more greenish-blue on top of the head AMAZONA ALBIFRONS NANA is a little smaller and in general darker colored. AMAZONA ALBIFRONS XANTHOLORA shows yellowish feathers at the lores. Bill: horn-colored. Legs: brown-grey. Iris: orange-brown Males and females can be identified by the Alula, which is red in males and green in females.
