Flute Makers

If I could only tell you which flute maker is the best! But that is impossible because there are so many superb makers.  First of all, if you are looking for a beginner flute, then a Bundy, Emerson, or Gemeinhardt would be a good choice.  For the more advanced flutes, Yamaha, Gemeinhardt, and for the professional flutes, Pearl, Powell, and Haynes. I am not saying these are the only makers, but these are just some examples of makers for a particular type of flute. Each of these flutes have their model numbers and any information that describes them, such as what features are standard and some have an approximate price range to give you an idea what to expect.

Special Additions
The Split E key is a lever type mechnism which properly vents the flute to assist the flutist in playing E above high C. Usually researved for professional level flutes.

 
The Gizmo or high C facilitator is a small lever attached to the low B key on a flute with a low B key. This mechanism helps the flutist properly reach the third octave C.

 
The B footjoint on the flute helps the flutists reach the B below middle C. Some of the new music utilizes this key. Usually researved for the professional flutists.
The C footjoint is standard for the beginner and intermediate flutists.
