The purpose of this section is to provide a few basic guidelines and keep all players on the same page.

Adoptions:

-Every adoption requires a specific audition.

-You must have read the books and you must know the history of the character you are adopting, as well as histories of those connected with them.

-Each member may have no more than five characters.

-Adoptions must be processed one at a time with a period of at least three weeks between them.

Expectations:

-Journals must be updated at least once every two weeks, either with personal or community posts.

-If you cannot chat on AIM, an appropriate level of extra journal usage and interaction is required.

-Announcements in the OOC journal must be made prior to any absence of a week or more.

-Proper grammar and good writing should be used at all times. No internet lingo or careless journal entries for the sake of meeting requirements.

Characters:

-No original characters or Valar are allowed in play for the time being.

-All characters must retain their pre-fourth age canon histories and the basic personalities Tolkien gave them. Do not change, but feel free to expand upon both of those.

-The actions of characters must fit in context and be within reason; none of them are all powerful or perfect. On that note, no Mary-Sues are allowed.

-You cannot kill or detrimentally affect any one else’s characters without permission.

-All characters must have an avatar that is not in use by another. Please see the
Avatar Listing before you choose. Changing of their physical form once it has been assigned is a request to the mod, who will then have Eru "grant" the body change.

Players:

-Respect your fellow players and moderators. Come into the game with a good attitude.

-If you have a complaint, feel free to talk to the moderator, but please do so in a respectful manner. The mod is not responsible if complaints are not filed and thus not addressed, nor obligated to oblige to all requests made.

-If we are having an intense Role Play session in a chat room, please limit your OOC comments for the sake of game play. There will be mun chats for us to discuss OOC issues, and there is a community for it.

-On occasion, the AIM chatroom will be designated for a specific event. If this is the case, only RP in the room if you are participating in that event. Examples include battles, feasts and councils.

Special Circumstances:

-All Pregnancies must be run past the moderator.

-The child will count towards the character limit of whoever plays it, so that player must be active and have no more than four characters.
-The maximum number of simultaneous pregnancies is two.
-A single member may not play more than one child.
-A single character may have no more than twins (no triplets or quads)
-There will be no male pregnancies.

-Guidelines to help players work within the game and still allow for speedier pregnancy & child growth than would otherwise be possible:

-Human & Hobbit pregnancies will take nine weeks (real time).
-Elf pregnancies will take twelve weeks (real time).
-The maximum rate of growth is six months per week, and this rate may fluctuate over time.

-If your character dies you must make that clear in their journal, and if you wish for them to be resurrected by Mandos you must make a request in a separate post. Mandos is not required to agree to that request. So don’t kill your character needlessly.

-It has been made clear that this is a book canon game, but I shall also clarify that there are to be no technology or modern effects in this world. This includes everything from familiar brand names to refrigerators. An exception can be made for Song Lyrics and, since there is controversy on this, "swear" words.

Journal Content:

-Please put items in their respective journals. ALL OOC commentary belongs in the OOC journal, and ALL chat logs belong in the Chat Logs journal.

-There are several items which, though they may appear in journals, must be placed behind a cut tag, such as anything NC-17, including:

-graphic description of any form of violence.
        -porn/graphic description of anything sexual
-anything disturbing, controversial, or detailed enough that it is of a questionable nature

The following, which increase loading time & clutter the page, should also be cut:

        -pictures/graphics, no matter what size
-long RPing done in an IM or part of a chat
-long song lyrics/poems... use your own judgment

If you need to cut, use this code:

<lj-cut text="whatever you want">What you are going to cut</lj-cut>

The above guidelines are all fairly simple to follow, and if you have any questions feel free to contact the moderator. If a member is repeatedly unable or unwilling to comply with these regulations he/she will be asked to leave the game.
