G R O O M From the bride: Fun loving - very caring, patient and good hearted. He gave me an unconditional love that made me truely enjoy life. Bert is an avid sports lover, always keeping himself busy with basketball, volleyball and golf. Although he is the oldest of six children, he is probably the youngest at heart.

HOW WE MET
Lisa's story | volleyball...

Bert's story | I met Lisa playing volleyball, we really didn't get along at first. I can't say we weren't friends but we weren't enemies either, more like acquaintances. I think my abundance of energy and child-like behavior was too much for her. But soon we began hanging out more and more with the rest of our volleyball group. I guess you could say one thing led to another, next thing I knew we were going out. Cool thing about our relationship was there really wasn't that awkward middle stage more relationships have. We went on a couple of 'dates', almost instantly we became a couple. I kind of knew she was the one for me about 3 months into the relationship. Funny thing. On May 21, 1999, I sent her an email saying I wanted to be with her forever… then exactly a year later, I proposed to her. Funny huh?

OUR ENGAGEMENT
Lisa's story | Bert had taped the season finale of "Friends" and while we were watching it, he proposed to me right before Chandler did to Monica. He started jumping around saying "I beat Chandler!"

Bert's story | I had actually intended on asking her to marry me earlier, but she was away in San Diego. So since we (mostly Lisa) are fans of "Friends", I thought this would be perfect opportunity to make it a little more memorable. I remember getting up during the show to get the ring, and Lisa complaining I was missing something. So obviously when I got back, she wanted to know what I was doing that was that important. I don't recall (conveniently) what I told her but it bought the some time to put my plan into action. All I had to do know was wait for the right moment. And YES, I did beat Chandler :-)
