Recruitment

Are you interested in joining the Fremont Fire Explorer Post 173? Please make sure that you meet all of the requirements listed below as they appear in our Manual of Operations Book, section 020.05.

1. You MUST be at least a freshman in high school.
2. You MUST have a minimum overall grade point average of a 2.0.
3. You MUST be at least 14 years of age, but no older than 21 years of age.
4. You MUST be in good health and physical condition (This will be evaluated later).
5. You MUST be free of any physical problems that may cause injury to yourself or others participating in the program (Also to be evaluated later).
6. You MUST be able to show good behavior and perform tasks that may be given to at any given time.
7. You MUST be able to work well with people and act as a role model to citizens as we represent the City of Fremont and its Fire Department.
8. You MUST be free of any criminal record with the exception of minor traffic violations.

• You submit your application to us.


• Our Explorer Officers and Advisiors will review your application when we decide to start our recruitment process. (Check the News section of our website to find out when the next recruitment process begins and when the final date to submit an application is.)


• One of our Explorer Officers will call and advise you that we have received your application and set up a physical agility test as well as an interview date with you where you will be interviewed by a board of aproximately 2 to 5 Explorer Officers and/or Advisors.

• Our Explorer Officers and Advisors will discuss all of the applicants and will choose 8 to 14 applicants to attend our 6 day academy based on the performance in the interview.


• If you are selected to attend the academy will be notified by phone about 1 week after your interview. (PLEASE NOTE - If you are not selected we will notify you by mail about 2 weeks after the interview and we encourage you to apply for our next recruitment process.)

• You will then receive a packet that tells when the academy is and it will describe the academy and what will be needed for it.
• You will then attend our academy and only those who pass all trainings and tests with 80% or better will pass and become an explorer.
