25th Hour
Gangs of New York
SOMETHING by John Williams (Minority Report,    Harry Potter, or Star Wars)

(If there were justice in the world, Solaris’ ambient, creepy score would be nominated, as would Charlie Mole’s delightful ragtime score for The Importance of Being Earnest, and the weird noise-filled score for Punch-Drunk Love, which so perfectly captured its protagonist’s sense of anxiety.  But none of these films were huge successes and will probably be overlooked.)

BEST ORIGINAL SONG

Bjork, The Lord of the Rings:  The Two Towers

Eminem, 8 Mile

Paul Simon, The Wild Thornberrys Movie

Bruce Springsteen, 25th Hour

U2, Gangs of New York (a pretty solid bet)

But doesn’t the F&SN Critic listen to dead weirdos like Vivaldi, Mozart, and The Beatles?
Miscellaneous teeny-bopper boy band, Spirit:  Stallion of the Cimarron
I’m not willing to guess in the following categories:
Best Short Subject
Best Short Subject – Animated
Best Short Subject – Documentary
Best Documentary

Although it’s a pretty safe bet
“Bowling for Columbine” will pop up in the latter.
And that’s it.  You can take my advice when placing your bets, or not.

But I don’t gamble.  I don’t even hear the ball spinning on the roulette wheel anymore.
