I ordered a sling for Magnum today. It was only about $20. I figure it will probably be worth it for the amount of time we will need it. Also called the clinic today to ask a few questions. Magnum will not come home with a cast or bandage on the leg. He will come home on Rimadyl for pain and inflammation. No walks for 2 months. He will go back in 2 weeks for a checkup and to get stitches out. He will come home on antibiotics for 10 days. He will be on IV painkillers the day of surgery until he comes home. Someone will be at the clinic all night to check on him. We bought the indoor/outdoor carpet for the front and back entryways and the ramp so Magnum won't slip going outside or get slivers from the wood for the ramp. We're stocking up on toys to keep him busy for 2 months. That seems a formidable task to me right now. My second oldest daughter is a vet tech. She may come over the Wednesday after his surgery to help out with him and visit him. I would welcome her company. She is going to bring him a new toy too. :) The kids andI will have to drop him off by ourselves. My husband has to work. I know I won't be in great shape for driving home but will have to manage to keep it together. I know that I have to leave Magnum in God's hands and I know that is the best place I can leave him but, I'm still a little nervous about the whole thing. |
