This month, I thought that "Poor Man" would be a good song for this month because it's a good reflecting song. It makes you so thankful to Jesus for showing us the way to heaven! So read the lyrics and decide your opinion of what it means to you, then read mine at the bottom of the page! Make sure to e-mail me your opinions so I can put it on the site!!

Poor Man
By: Nate Cole, Gabe Combs, and Nathan Walters

First Verse:
Bare, naked and bare is how I came
And I'll be leaving just the same.
So why be afraid?
Yeah...

Chorus:
I'm a poor man
walking down the road.
The straight and narrow is leading me
to gold.

Second verse:
Space, the second floor
of outer space.
Where all infinity awaits.
I'm on my way
to a better place.

Chorus:
I'm a poor man
walking down the road.
The straight an narrow is
leading me to gold.
So I'm a rich man
walking down the road.
The straight and narrow is
leading me to...

Bridge:
You, gave to me
Life everlasting.
All I can see
is life everlasting

Chorus

You, gave to me
life everlasting
All that I need
is life everlasting.
Thoughts on this song: I think that this song is discussing the verse in the Bible that talks about following Jesus on the straight and narrow path to Heaven. The verse says that it's very difficult; it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than to get into Heaven. Jesus is the only way there! We're all "poor men" without Jesus to walk us through life. We become rich, however, by following Him on the path. He'll give us everlasting life when we get there! No riches in this world could ever be better than that! What's your opinion on this song?
September-December's song, "Forever"
Realizing that you'd have to spend forever without a meaning in life is scary, so it makes this song very real. "Forever"-eternal life-is a VERY long time! WAY longer than this lifetime on earth! Without God we have nothing, Jesus came to show us that we CAN have a purpse and spend eternity with Him, so let's not spend "forever" alone! What are your thoughts/feelings? ~Ali
July/August's song, "I Will Rescue You"
This song really hits my heart, it always makes me thing of God as a loving Father who's here with me more than a big powerful being up in heaven somewhere. I think the guys sing it perfectly, very soft and touching. I think the meaning of it is obviously God telling us that we're never alone and can always turn to Him. What do you get out of this song? ~Ali
June's song, "I Need a Miracle"
Just the simple act of getting down on our knees and giving up; completely surrendering ourselves to God is humbling. But not just that, but asking God to help you fix this, to show you what to do now-that's true mercy and love, don't you think? That's what I get our of this song. I'd like to invite you to share if this song has helped you through anything. ~Ali
May's song, "Under the Influence
"
I think that this song is about "going against the flow" and being "under the influence" of something that the crowd isn't under-God! We can be obsessed with God and live and breathe Him, and that's wonderful! We can show the world that there is something better out there besides drugs, alcohol, sex, etc... What do you all think? ~Al

April's song, "When Your Spirit Gets Too Weak
"
My opinion is that this song is God speaking to us. He's telling us that no matter what we're going through, He's there for us. When I'm having a hard day I like to listen to this song. It's a very gospel-based song, and really gives the feeling of church and God right there with you, I love it! What do you think? ~Al

March's song, "Use Me"

I believe that this song is about surrendering ourselves to God, and letting Him use us for his purpose. God has a plan for all of us, we just have to tell Him that we're willing to follow that plan to the best of our ability! Other people make it difficult, and you'll stand out when you're doing what God wants instead of what you want, but think of the rewards that God will give to us in eternal life! What do all of you think? ~Al

February's song, "Camouflage
"
I think that this song is saying that we Christians have something SO big and amazing (meaning our faith in God) that we just can't stand to hold it in! We have to share it with everyone! God is placing that urge inside of us. We could take the easy way out, like the world and Satan are telling us to do [And when I get the chance to just spill my guts about you, it tries to tape up my mouth]. But verse 2 is saying that God's urge is a lot more powerful than the world! Let's go share the message, not "blend" in and be "camouflage", and stand out for our faith! What are your thoughts? ~Ali

January's song, "Start To Fly
"
I think that this song was written to help those who are hurting and don't want to share it with anyone. I do this sometimes, I hold it in, and in doing that we hold it back from God. The song tells us to take a breath, let it out to God, and let him inside our cold closed hearts to heal us. Then we can fly with the freedom He's given us at the cross! If we just do as the saying says, "Let go let God!" I think we'd all get along better! Send me your thoughts, I'd be happy to put them here! =) ~Al

December's song, "I Won't Forget this Christmas"

I think that this song is talking about the fact that we get distracted when it comes to the month of December and worry about shopping for gifts, decorating, cooking, etc...and it takes us away from the true meaning of CHRISTmas. (If you know what I mean). When i sing along with this song, I feel like I'm commiting my thoughts to God, saying, "I will NOT forget about YOU this year, please help me focus on the precious coming of your son, Jesus Christ!" (Can I get an AMEN?!?!?) =) Giving gifts is great, but let's listen to this song and not let it stress and take over our lives this year! Please contribute your thoughts too! Thanks! ~Al

November's song, "Kick Me
"
My thoughts on "Kick Me" are just the fact that nobody likes Gossip. This song is, in my opinion, all about how people can talk behind your back, and then when you find out about it you feel so betrayed! You just want to talk it out with your friend, but your friend is the one that hurt you! It's a tough situation to be in. What do you guys think of this song? Please e-mail them to me! Thanx! ~Al

Laura's thoughts
:I think that the part, 'A friend is nowhere to be found,' is talking about how hard it is for them now too find true friends-people who aren't going to like them just because they're famous.  The 'Kick me, if you're so perfect then don't thor another stone at me' part is talking about how they aren't perfect, and they know it, but everyone expects them to be because they're a 'christian boyband.'  For example, the whole christian world was up in arms that "Last Flight Out" was about a girl.  So what?!  It's not like it was sick or twisted.  Like Jeremy said, (I'm paraphrasing here) "I could write a good song about a shoe and no one would care, but because it's about the opposite gender it's wrong."  I think that's what they're trying to voice-they're not perfect, and don't expect them to be,'cause only ONE person is.   ~Laura :-)
October's song, "My Life
"
My opinion on My Life is that you might think that you can just party your life away, and it'd all be fun and games, but God is really what's important in life! It doesn't mean we can't have fun, it just means we have to take time out of our busy social lives to pray and spend time with God. I've heard many people tell me that the lyrics are bad in this song because of the "do i have to wear a shirt and tye..." part, but if you listen to the whole song, it makes sense. Those lyrics in my opinion is just an expression of hanging out and not worrying about your life. Every moment counts, you always should live life to the fullest in God's eyes so you're ready to meet Him! Remember to e-mail me your thoughts on this song! Thanks for reading! :) ~Al

August/September's song, "Let Me Be The One
"
I believe that in this song, it is God talking to each one of us! Many people believe that it's the guys singing to a girl, and you could definetely take it that way, but I don't think that's what it's supposed to mean. "Near or far you are close to me", I don't think that a girlfriend/boyfriend could always be physically near you as the lyrics say, but that's totally my opinion. Let me know what you think!! We could start a great discussion! :o) Thanks for reading! Make sure to check back next month for the next song! :o)  ~Ali

Erin's thoughts:

I agree with you Ali that it's about God talking to us,not a boyfriend/girlfriend song. I also think that it means that you are never alone and that you can always know that He is there with you showing you the way.   <>< Erin ><
