Supervixens (1975) |
Directed by Russ Meyer. Starring Charles Pitts , Shari Eubank , Henry Rowland , Uschi Digard , and Charles Napier. |
Supervixens is one of the more cartoonish , violent , and highly entertaining Russ Meyer movies you're likely to see. It's all about a poor sap called Clint , who pumps gas at Martin Bormans Garage ( and I thought he fled to South America). His wife Angel is a real nympho , and is always ringing him and harrassing him. The cops are constantly being called to their home in the desert. One day Angel gets murdered in one of the most imaginative murder scenes that I've seen in a long time by a cop called Harry , who she seduced , and then got on the wrong side of. |
Clint gets blamed , and his boss Marty Borman gives him a hundred dollars and his best wishes as he goes on the run. Along the way , he is beaten , is chased by vengeful farmers for getting too friendly with their wives , chased by the angry fathers of promiscuous daughters, and a whole lot more of the usual Meyer hi-jinx. Harry is also after him. He wants to test out his dynamite launcher on the ill fated Clint. This movie is kind of like Russ Meyer meets The Fugitive. |
While this movie did drag out a little towards the end , for the most part it was an entertainingly surreal , cartoonish movie, with copious dashes of violence and nudity thrown in for good measure . The scenes where pitchforks were used as spears , and Harry was trying to kill Clint with dynamite were great. The murder scene was very strange , because one minute Angel is making us laugh by ridiculing the dislikeable cop Harry , and the next she is stapled to the bathroom door with a carving knife. This movie is a pretty good introduction for anyone who hasn't seen a Russ Meyer movie before..... they don't make 'em like this anymore. |
