You Were So Little Then

You were so little then
I couldn't picture  moment when
You'd grow up and say good-bye
A mothers heart would surely cry

As time flew by so did you
Your one year old and then your two
One day you were walking strong
Then riding a bike it wasn't long

Soon off to school you did go
It amazed me how much you did grow
Then dances were a place to be
A challenge soon for you and me

Then one day it came to me
A young man soon you would be
The time it went so quickly then
The cuddling times I tucked you in

A man you are in every way
Yet I miss the moments when you'd say
Come sing me Mom a lullaby
And comfort me so I won't cry

Yet never could I prouder be
Of the special man I've come to see
And all the love I've deep inside
For you I have so much pride

Although you've grown and gone away
I love you more and more each day
For you were so little then
I couldn't picture a moment when
