Arizona Cardinals 5-11 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Safety |
Running Back |
QuarterBack |
Why |
Quick, name one. Exactly. Robert Smith is getting old, and in this division you need defense. |
JJ Arrington and Marcel Ship, enough said. Cards run game isn't even a threat. |
Kurt Warner is not young. He may have a few years left, but time to start grooming. |
What to Expect: |
You know Denny loves offense. Don't be suprised if he takes one of the 3 QB's or perhaps Vernon Davis if he is there. |
Atlanta Falcons 8-8 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Secondary |
Defensive End |
Running Back |
Why |
DeAngelo Hall has developed as a shut down CB, but the Falcons lack depth in the backfield |
The Falcons would love to get some depth on the line to help protect Vick and the run game. |
Warrick Dunn is getting older and Duckett doesn't work unless it's inside the 10. |
What to Expect: |
The acquisition of Abraham is huge and fills a major void they had at D-End. Without a 1st round pick, the Falcons will look for someone to slip throught he cracks. |
Baltimore Ravens 6-10 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Safety |
Offensive Tackle |
Defensive Tackle |
Why |
Will Demps left as a Free Agent, so there is a huge gap to fill. |
Need someone to be opposite Ogden. Baltimore's offense requires protection. |
Need that run-stopping style of bulk on the front line. |
What to Expect: |
I expect the Ravens to look a the D-Tackle spot in the first round. Look for Ngata or maybe Bunkley to be their selection. |
Buffalo Bills 5-11 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Defensive Tackle |
Cornerback |
Offensive Tackle |
Why |
Sam Adams is gone, and the Bills gave up the 2nd most rushing yards in the NFL. |
The Bills also lack depth at CB. They need a lock-down type CB to lead the defensive backfield. |
Mike Williams has been such a dissapointment, that he is now playing guard. |
What to Expect: |
I would expect the Bills to address the defensive side of the ball. If Ngata falls to them, he will go to Buffalo, while they hope Mike Huff takes a fall as well. |
Carolina Panthers 11-5 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
linebacker |
tight end |
running back |
Why |
They really need help on the outside. It would be great to have the option of keeping Thomas Davis at safety. |
The Panthers could be very potent offensively if they had a dominant TE to go opposite Steve Smith |
Stephen Davis is done, and Foster can play about 7 games a season. They should start Nick Goings! |
What to Expect: |
I expect the Panters to land a nice pick in the first round. While the top TE will be off the board, I think they will have the choice of going with a good TE, or a RB like Maroney or LenDale White. |
Chicago Bears 11-5 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
CornerBack |
Tight End |
Offensive Tackle |
Why |
Jerry Azumah has retired and this Defense is ready for a young, attacking CB |
Desmond Clark is decent as a mid range reciever, but a dominating TE would really help the offense. |
This style of offense needs good protection. Bears have a decent RB core and young QB who need protection |
What to Expect: |
I really expect the Bears to take the best CB/TE available in the first round. Unless somebody is slipping, I think they look at their big board and take the best athlete available. |
Cincinnati Bengals 11-5 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Defensive Tackle |
Tight End |
Defensive Back |
Why |
The Bengal run defense was not good and you know that makes Marvin Lewis mad. |
This is a rising offense, that lacks a good tight end. They have all the other tools. |
The defensive backfield could use atleast one new starter, as well as some depth. |
What to Expect: |
Picking later in the first round, don't be suprised if the Bengals go with a defensive player. They can get a decent TE later in the day. |
Cleveland Browns 6-10 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Outside Linebacker |
Defensive Tackle |
Defensive End |
Why |
This 3-4 defense really lacks a dominating pass rusher along the outside. |
Actually more of a Nose Tackle. Browns seem like they always have problems at this spot. |
Pretty obvious by now that the front 7 is the main focus for this team. |
What to Expect: |
The Browns are going to have lots of options in the First Round. I would expect the Browns to enter round 2 with either Bunkley or Simms. |
Dallas Cowboys 9-7 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Offensive Line |
Free Safety |
Quarterback |
Why |
Flozell moves over to the left side this year, but the rest of the line needs help. You have an aging QB and a young RB to get going. |
This is the major hole on defense. Keith Davis takes a lot of slack and the Cowboys need some more speed. |
Drew Bledsoe is 34. I don't think Tony Romo is the answer as a backup with a future. |
What to Expect: |
I think it works out perfect for the Cowboys to take Donte Whitner from OSU if he is there. That would be quite the Defensive backfield. |
Denver Broncos 13-3 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Tight End |
Wide Reciever |
Running Back |
Why |
Jeb is gone, and this year has some decent TE's who could start. |
Ashley Lelie is a bit inconsistent, and Rod Smith is aging a bit. Time to bring a young speedster in. |
Mike Anderson gone. Maurice Clarrett all but gone. Tatum Bell and Ron Dayne sharing. I think this is their style. |
What to Expect: |
Broncos are the only team with 2 first rounders. I definitely think they are both going to be offense. I think they take a top WR at 15, and get a RB at 22. |
Detroit Lions 5-11 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Linebacker |
Tackle |
Quarterback |
Why |
Lions need a LB with some range that can play in the new coaches Cover 2 scheme. |
The Lions have a bad line. This is a definite need for them. |
Joey is gone, but I think that is a good thing. The bad thing is they can't "waste" another high pick on a dissapointing QB. |
What to Expect: |
IF one of the Top 3 QB's fall, the Lions will be very tempted to take one. I think they make better decision though and take a LB at #9. |
Green Bay Packers 4-12 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Offensive Guard |
Linebacker |
Defensive Back |
Why |
Packers struggled big time after losing Whale and Rivera. Back to basics and that means O-Line. |
Packers need a Packer-type player on defense. LB is the perfect fit for one of these type players. |
You name it. CB or Safety. Ahmad Carroll struggles a bit at times, the safety spots are a joke. |
What to Expect: |
The Packers will take the best player available at the 5th spot. I would say their top 3 include: 1. Ferguson, 2. M. Williams, and 3. AJ Hawk. |
Houston Texans 2-14 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Offensive Tackle |
Linebacker |
Safety |
Why |
Texans have been searching since Boselli. They gave up the most sacks in the NFL. |
The Texans don't have the proper LB's to play their 4-3 defense. Middle Linebacker is the glaring need. |
Any defense they can add through the draft will be a help. |
What to Expect: |
Throw everything out the window when you have the number 1 pick and Reggie Bush is available. I think they should trade down and get D'Brickshaw Ferguson, but we know that won't happen. |
Indianapolis Colts 14-2 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Running Back |
Linebacker |
Offensive Guard |
Why |
Easy. Edgerrin James is a Cardinal. |
Lost Thornton in Free Agency. Cato June has one spot, but everything else is open. |
When you have Peyton Manning, you do everyting possible to make sure you have the best protection available. |
What to Expect: |
I think the Colts will go RB in the first round. There is a good chance they can get a guy who is as good if not better than Rhodes. They will address other holes later in the day. |
Jacksonville Jaguars 12-4 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Outside Linebacker |
Tight End |
Cornerback |
Why |
Lost a starter on the outside, and that's ok. Jags need someone with speed and athleticism. |
To stop teams from stacking the line, they need a TE other than Kyle Brady. |
Jaguars need a stop CB. Especially in their division! |
What to Expect: |
The Jags will have decent options at each of their need spots when they pick. I think the top OLB's are gone so they go with Leonard Pope. |
Kansas City Chiefs 10-6 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Wide Reciever |
Defensive Line |
Defensive Back |
Why |
The Cheifs are in need of a definite #1. They don't have a true number 1 and Eddie Kennisonis getting older. |
They need good players on the outside and the interior. Inability to stop the run was a key. |
Broad, but the need is in both areas. Patrick Surtain is the only sure starter. |
What to Expect: |
Chiefs will take the best player available in round 1. That could be a WR if one falls, but I doubt it. I would bet on the Cheifs going Defensive Back, and filling other gaps later. |
Miami Dolphins 9-7 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Offensive Tackle |
Cornerback |
Wide Reicever |
Why |
Left side is bad, and it's a franchise QB that needs some protection this time. |
Time for the Dolphins to get some impact players in the backfield. |
Other than Chris Chambers, and sometimes Marty Booker, it's time to look at a young upgrade. |
What to Expect: |
I think the Dolphins will have a chance to land a top tackle in the first round, while adding a CB and WR later in the day. |
Minnesota Vikings 9-7 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Linebacker |
running Back |
Safety |
Why |
Switching from a 3-4 to a 4-3 means a change in the type of LB's you start. |
Mewelde Moore is the best option, but he is often injured. Look for the Vinkings to get a guy who can carry it 30 times. |
Time to build up the backfield. Corey Chavous is gone and the Vikings could add some depth. |
What to Expect: |
I don't think the Vikings can justify drafting a RB in the first round, so I think they will go with a Linebacker who can dominate on the outside. |
New England Patriots 10-6 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Cornerback |
Linebacker |
running Back |
Why |
The Pats need someone who can be a shut down CB and play without help. |
Injuries last year and an aging group bring this spot up as a huge need. They really need a ILB. |
Corey Dillon is aging a bit, and the backups are not a threat to be full time starters. |
What to Expect: |
Predicting what the Pats will do is impossible. I think the Patriots take a top RB right in front of the Broncos in round 1. |
New Orleans Saints 3-13 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Outside Linebacker |
Offensive Tackle |
Defensive Tackle |
Why |
The strong side was a mess for the Saints. The Saints would love to add a guy who can rush the passer. |
If the Saints want Brees and McAllister to succeed, they need some good guys up front. Gandy is gone and Bently is gone. |
Saints were notorious for giving up rushing yards all of last season. |
What to Expect: |
If I were a betting man, I would expect the Saints to trade this pick. They can get some real value off of this spot and still land the guy they want. I say they draft Leinart and deal him, but only down a few spots. |
New York Giants 11-5 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Cornerback |
Wide Reciever |
Offensive Line |
Why |
With the addition of TO to this division, the need for a shutdown corner is maginified. |
Let's be honest here, the Giants don't have a legit #1 or #2 reciever for an NFL team. |
Your future is in your backfield. Now it's time to protect it. |
What to Expect: |
At 25, the Giants may be in line to land a good Corner. This draft is a deep at that spot. Look for them to go cornerback unless a top 3 WR falls. |
New York Jets 4-12 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Running Back |
Quarterback |
Cornerback |
Why |
Curtis Marin turns 33 soon. Now is an ideal time to bring in a young guy and work him into the rotation. |
Can you really count on Chad Pennington? |
Ty Law is now gone. Justin Miller has potential, but another young guy is needed. |
What to Expect: |
At 4, I expect the Jets to take the best player available. depending on their QB board, it may be Cutler, or perhaps Ferguson or Williams. Lots of options. With their pick in the bottom half, I think they take a RB. |
Oakland Raiders 4-12 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Outside Linebacker |
Defensive Tackle |
Cornerback |
Why |
Kirk Morrison has solidified the weak side, but a strong presence is needed on the other side. |
Terrible against the run. Washington is no longer there and Sapp is getting a bit long in the tooth. |
Charles Woodson is no longer a Raider. While that may be a good thing, it hurts the depth. |
What to Expect: |
Lots of action in Oakland. Chances are they will have the option of Vince Young or Vernon Davis at their pick. With any luck, AJ Hawk slides to them and is a need pick, but how can youpass on the other 2? |
Philadelphia Eagles 6-10 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Outside Linebacker |
Wide Reciever |
Offensive Line |
Why |
Dhani Jones really struggled last year and will likely move to the weak side. |
The Eagles have a bunch of guys who are good 2's and 3's, but not a guy who has potential to be a 1. |
Time for a bit of a youth movement here. Tra Thomas is in shambles after back surgery. Let's get some young studs in here. |
What to Expect: |
I really expect the Eagles to take a OLB with their first pick. Perhaps Ernie Simms or Kamerion Whimbley at that spot. I know a good WR will be there, but not one with the potential of those two guys. |
Pittsburgh Steelers 11-5 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Wide Reciever |
Free Safety |
Defensive End |
Why |
Randle El is gone, and the slot is a key spot for this ball control offense. |
Chris Hope has left town, leaving a big hole next to Palamalu. |
In the 3-4 scheme, you need solid D Ends. Kimo von Oelhoffen is now gone so we have a hole here. |
What to Expect: |
Picking last in the draft can be good and can be bad. I don't see a top WR falling to them at this spot, but they may be able to grab Sinorice Moss. If he is there, that is a great pick. If not, look for them to grab a D-line guy. |
St. Louis Rams 6-10 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Cornerback |
Defensive Line |
Linebacker |
Why |
They have durability issues with what they have now, and no definite #1 cover guy. |
Free Agency has taken it's toll on the Ram line over the last 2 seasons. Time to re-fill |
The Rams are looking for some big plays out of their linebackers, but are not getting it. A young, fast , athletic kid is a perfect fit here. |
What to Expect: |
The Rams are in a great spot. If Vernon Davis falls to them, they needt to take him. Otherwise, they can land one of the top two CB's in the draft or perhpas a LB. |
San Diego Chargers 9-7 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Offensive Tackle |
Wide Reciever |
Safety |
Why |
Roman Oben is coming off a serious knee injury, you have a stud RB, and all but a rookie QB. Yes, protection! |
San Diego needs a WR who can stretch the field. A speedy WR will only help what LT can do. |
It is time of fill this spot again. The Chargers have tried filling it with a number of guys over the last 3 years, none have worked. |
What to Expect: |
I think the Chargers get a WR in the first round. They can land one of the top 3. A guy like Santonio Holmes or Chad Jackson would be perfect. |
San Fransisco 49ers 4-12 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Outside Linebacker |
Wide Reciever |
Cornerback |
Why |
Julian Peterson is now a Seahawk! That leaves Corey Smith and Renauld Williams. Exactly. |
Let's atleast give Alex Smith a fighting chance. He has nobody to throw the ball to! |
The 49ers need to get a stud in the secondary. Shawne Spencer is decent, but some competition is needed. |
What to Expect: |
The 49ers are going to have lots of options. If they decide not to trade down (with Denver possibley), I think their order of preference is: Mario Williams, AJ Hawk, Michael Huff. One of those 3 will be a 49er. |
Seattle Seahawks 13-3 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Cornerback |
Offensive Guard |
SAfety |
Why |
Andre Dyson is now gone, and the Hawks need some depth at this position to keep up with their young athletic philosophy. |
The loss of Steve Hutchinson is huge. I know guys could move into his spot, but losing a Pro Bowl Lineman is a big issue. |
What is the deal with Ken Hamlin? Even if he is healthy and ready to go, the Hawks need some depth here. |
What to Expect: |
I think the Seahawks go CB with their first pick. In a draft deep at that spot, they can land a decent contributor. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneeers 11-5 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Cornerback |
Offensive TAckle |
Wide Reicever |
Why |
The trio they have are decent, but all are over 30. Bring in a young guy to mold right now. |
Time for an upgrade. Todd Stuessie can't play every down, and Chris Colmer can be upgraded. |
Joey Galloway had a great year last year, but can it continue? Not a lot of depth here, especially if Clayton can't stay healthy. |
What to Expect: |
I don't think a good OL falls to them in the first, so they are left between a WR or a CB. I think they would love to get a speedy WR in teh first, but the solid pick would be CB. |
Tennessee Titans 4-12 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Inside Linebacker |
Offensive Tackle |
Quaterback |
Why |
Brad Kassell is gone and a fast guy is needed to run the middle of the field for this defense. |
Even if Mr. Roos can fill a void, it is time for the Titans to get a top OL in place fof the future. |
Steve McNair asked not to come back. There must be some reason they don't let Billy Volek start more. Great draft to get a QB. |
What to Expect: |
I think the Titans are going to get a QB on draft day. It falls perfect for them...almost. The question who will be there and will they start from Day 1? |
Washington Redskins 10-6 |
|
|
1 |
2 |
3 |
Needs |
Linebacker |
Cornerback |
Defensive Line |
Why |
LaVar is gone and Antonio Pierce followed him. 'Skins need a stud here. |
Springs is on the bad side of 30. The Redskins need someone to push him for a starting spot. |
Philip Daniels and Renaldo Wynn play well, but for how long? Again, let's get some youth in here. |
What to Expect: |
Without a first round pick, the Redskins will be looking to add depth in day one. |
|
