In November 1995, the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD), of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), licensed Pascual Laboratories, Inc. (PLI) to manufacture and sell Lagundi and Sambong tablets, This was followed by Akapulko lotion in year 2000.

The research and development activities that led to the first three products, Lagundi (ASCOF) and Sambong (RE-LEAF) tablets and Akapulko (ACADERM) lotion, were done by the National Integrated Research Program on Medicinal Plants (NIRPROMP), a consortium of the country's top scientists, and funded by the PCHRD. The scientific studies were all in accordance with the World Health Organization (WHO) prescribed guidelines in establishing the safety and efficacy of medicinal plants.

Altermed Corporation was organized to handle the herbal business of PLI. All of its products passed the rigid quality control tests of the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) and were launched as medicines. Thus Altermed Corporation is the first and only private Filipino pharmaceutical company, duly licensed by the BFAD, to successfully market herbal medicines in dosage forms.

Altermed Corporation continuously develops products in support of the Department of Health's program on promoting medicinal plants for public consumption. Among these are Pro-Lacta (Malunggay), Cholextrol (Garlic), Arpan (Pansit-pansitan), Vegies (Saluyot), Yeba (Yerba buena), Diaban (Banaba) and Re-GIT (Tsaang-gubat) all in capsule forms.

All the raw materials used in manufacturing our natural products are organically grown. Our manufacturing facilities adhere strictly to BFAD prescribed current good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) standards. These assure our customers of the premium quality of our products.
