October 6, 2001 vs San Jose Sharks NO RECAP AVAILABLE - Excuse: Tim had a run-in with a time machine, he ended up in 1968 trying get out of a date with his then 20 year-old mother. This is a bizaree, drawn-out story that is really boring, plus we would rather not talk about it. Kyle did not do the recap because he was hungover (actually still drunk) the next morning. Sorry Folks! October 7, 2001 vs Los Angeles Kings NO RECAP AVAILABLE - Excuse: Tim I am soo SORRY! I accidentally deleted your fine recap when I renovated this page. My bad. -Kyle October 10, 2001 vs Boston Bruins NO RECAP AVAILABLE - Excuse: Kyle = drunk, Tim = drunk October 12, 2001 vs Chicago Blackhawks Well...I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm getting pretty pumped. With a 3-0-1 start against very respectable teams, ecpect of course for LA, sorry Sarah, the Wild look to be in as good a shape as any team. It's all about confidence, which the whole team is gaining every day. I don't want to sound skewed by any means, but we all know where the added confidence is coming from. Mr. Gaborik himself. Enough bantering. The Wild won a real nail-biter last night. We shocked the Blackhawks with 3, yes, thats 3 powerplay goals within the first 15 minutes of the game. We tallied 2 more goals to make it 5-1. But the Wild, always being the Fan's Team, wanted to make it a little more interesting. Chicago crept up to within 1 goal, but the Wild shoved it down their throat with a last minute empty-netter to make it 6-4. And the man had 2 points. How much sweeter could it get? It was one of those games where you realize that you had clothes on when you started watching, but by the end, you are buck-ass naked with clothes strewn about the room. Sorry for not recaping the last game against the Bruins. The score was 2-1, in case you're into that sort of thing. More coming soon. October 14, 2001 vs Edmonton Oilers NO RECAP AVAILABLE - Excuse: Tim had to pose for GQ magazine, Kyle was out and about trying to meet British girls in London, he still plans on "buying American" though. We here at SirMarian would like to congratulate Marian on his first goal of the season. We are also enjoying seeing those assists pile up as well. October 16, 2001 vs San Jose Sharks Marian continued his strong start by collecting a goal and two assists versus the Sharks. The Dowd-Gaborik-Brunette line produced again as Marian scored in the first period off of a deflection. Dowd and Brunette got the assists. Dowd scored in the second period off of Brunette and Gaborik assists. Marian also assisted on Laaksonen's second period goal. "Yeah, Mike Ricci made a bet with me before the game that I wouldn't do (anything) on the ice tonight. I'm sure he now feels like that one dude from that one show always makes losing bets...umm...yeah", Gaborik said at the post-game news conference. "I am just glad we got out with a point and can now focus our efforts on the St. Lunatics on Friday." "Gaborik is f%ckin' awesome at ice hockey" Dowd said after being asked about his linemate's recent good play. The Wild are now the only unbeaten team in the NHL, also, woeful Columbus lost for the second time this season and still have no wins to speak of. October 19, 2001 vs St. Louis Blues NO RECAP AVAILABLE - Excuse: Tim drinks his own pee, Kyle is 6,000 miles aways from Minnesota. October 24, 2001 vs Carolina Panthers Well, I'm glad we got that out of our system. There's no easy way to say this, so I'll just tell it like it is. The Wild played like a bunch of drunken buffalo and got beat 7-3. I'm sorry, but that's the truth. There are not too many times that I will denigrate the Wild, but they deserved this loss. This does not mean that I don't like them anymore, that I will quit the site, move to iceland and become an iceburg hermit. It simply means that the Wild had an off game. In fact, since it was their first loss in regulation, it came as a relief to some. It had to come sometime, and now we can concentrate on the next streak. Perhaps a streak of 74 consecutive games with a point. And with another steller game under his belt, he is well on his way. Gaborik's exceptional play was the only bright spot in this dismal game. The Man amassed a goal and an assist while wowing the fans with his breakneck speed and offensive know-how. Said Gaborik, "I saw this hottie in the stands checking me out. So I told her I would score for her, and as you know, The Man (he refers to himself in the third person now) never disappoints. Not to be shown up, especially by a youth ten years his junior, Andrew Brunette also scored a goal and an assist. Gaborik, with 10 points, and Brunette with 8 have accounted for almost 30 percent of the Wild's points. If you add on Jimmy Dowd, the final member of the "Three Wise Men", the number jumps to well over 40 percent. As I've said countless times before, and I will continue to say, Give this line a couple of years, and The Wild will have a cup under their belts. Not an athletic supporter, rather The Stanley Cup. My bad. October 27th, 2001 vs Calgary Flames If it weren't for The Man, these last couple of games would have been a waste to watch. Marian scored on a wicked one-timer to boost his NHL-tying power play points to 8. The team was mediocre at best while losing to the Calgary Flames, 4-2. When I say mediocre, I mean the team minus The Three Wise Men. The line of Gaborik, Andrew Brunette and Jimmy Dowd had another stellar game. The Man had a team record 7 shots on his way to his 4th goal of the season and his 11th point. The Wild, dead last a season ago with the man advantage, have suprised many, so far leading the leauge with 26.2 percent on the power play. That in part to Marian's remarkable play. "We made some pretty good plays in their zone," Gaborik said. "We were more disciplined than our last game. We played hard. We had a lot of chances and could have scored more goals. It's tough to win when you don't score." "And you know how easy it is for me to score!" *WINK* *WINK* Gaborik didn't really say this, but I'll bet he was thinking it. October 30th, 2001 vs Nashville Predators Unfortunately, I was working, so I didn't get to watch the game. But a win is a win, and the Wild snapped their season long 3 game losing streak. The Three Wise Men combined for a goal and an assist with a +3 rating as the Wild disposed of the Predators 4-2. Marian had an assist on Andrew Brunette's fourth goal of the season. However, the victory came at a price. The Wild (4-2-3-1), already injury laden, lost two more players to injuries (Lubomir Sekeras and Andy Sutton). "It was a huge win for us," Darby Hendrickson said. "It wasn't a pretty game, but it was a game of a lot of little things. We held on there and got a huge road win." "Do you know what was pretty though? Marian Gaborik, or as I like to call him, Tha Pimp Daddy Man of Men." The Wild get a chance to dispose of the Predators again as the two treams finish up a rare, home and home series at the X-cel Center tonight. As to questions concerning if Marian would dress up for tonight's game: "I don't need to dress up...Where I come from, we don't celebrate halloween. If I wanted candy, I would just ask for it and I would get it. Oh, and candy in Slovakia was another term for women." |
