Jayne (the love of my life) and I have started a club on yahoo under hiking called Alabama Backpackers, so look us up and chat or check out the pics.
I am 46 and retired from the navy so I have lots of time to hike and camp. I enjoy day hikes but prefer 2-5 day hikes and camping.
I also love canoes and kayaks and whitewater (see link to other page).
Some of my favorite places to hike and camp are Sipsey and Pinhoti for longer hikes/camps and Oak Mtn, Desoto/Little River Canyon, and Pine Mtn Ga for day and weekend camping/hikes.
I am active in loads of outdoor/eco orgs and share alot of ecological concerns. Al is almost tops in dumbness when it comes to preserving its woodlands and wetlands. So if you care, do something, dont just sit on your ass, do it. Thanks for letting me rant.
