Lance rolled over and looked at the
clock. Groaning softly, he contemplated staying in bed all day. Even though
noon was approaching, he didn’t look forward to getting up. Staying in bed and
reliving his memories of the previous night sounded like much more fun than
playing their little charade with Joey and Justin.
As he stared at the clock memories of
his and JC confessions and their night at the club came rushing back. The
euphoria of finding out for sure that JC was bisexual still ran through his
veins. Lance grinned to himself. It was apparent at the club that a barrier had
been brought down between them. JC had always been affectionate and very touchy
feely but it became readily apparent within a few minutes of their arrival at
the club that he had been holding back.
Lance closed his eyes and concentrated
on remembering the feel of JC pressed against him. He had promised JC one dance
but as the night wore on they had shared the majority of dances. And what
dances they were. Some of them were innocent and sweet. During those they had
pulled each other close, stared into each other’s eyes, and whispered words so
softly that they might not have been real. Indeed, to Lance, the whole night
felt like a dream. The slow dances were right out of his most romantic
fantasies while the fast dances had been scenes he thought only existed in his
most erotic dreams.
Closing his eyes, Lance couldn’t get
the essence of JC out of his mind. A picture of them together was indelibly
etched on his brain. At one point during the night while they were dancing
together Lance’s eyes had strayed away from JC long enough to find their
reflections in the mirror that hung at one end of the dance floor. He hoped he
never forgot that moment. To date it was the single most erotic event in his
life. He had watched their bodies bump and grind and entwine to the heavy,
pulsing beat of the music. For a second he felt like a voyeur. Like it wasn’t
happening to him. Watching the sensual press of their bodies. They way they
seemed to fit together naturally. It was enough to skyrocket his arousal but
then JC had noticed what he was looking at and that was the last time he looked
at the mirror. JC reclaimed his attention and there were no more thoughts of
being a voyeur, he was too busy drowning in the sensations JC created.
Opening his eyes, he noted that his
alarm clock would be chiming any minute. He reached over and turned the alarm
off and made to get up out of the bed, but just as he sat up his doorknob
rattled. Feeling playful, he quickly swung his legs back up under the covers
and lay on his side feigning sleep. He heard the door softly swing open and
bare feet lightly slap against the hardwood floor.
The bed depressed behind Lance with a
hard bounce. A hand came down on his shoulder and started to shake him. Without
opening his eyes he knew who it was. His heart sped up from JC’s touch and he
tried to regulate his breathing so he wouldn’t give himself away.
JC contemplated Lance’s form as he
leaned over him and shook his shoulder. Even in sleep he was an angel. “Lance,”
he shook his shoulder again. Lance groaned lightly but otherwise didn’t move.
JC shook him some more. “Come on, man. The guys’ll be here any minute and we
need to be ready.”
Lance hid his grin by grunting and
burrowing into his pillow. He wondered exactly what JC would do to wake him up.
JC sat back on his heels and studied
Lance. He groaned inwardly. Of all the days, Lance had to choose today to play
Rip Van Winkle. Leaning down JC spoke directly into Lance’s ear. “Come on,
baby. You’re never this hard to wake up.” He shook him again for good measure.
Lance’s eyes nearly shot open when JC
called him baby. That was definitely not one of his nicknames. Maybe if Jace
thought he was still asleep he could get a few more savory minutes out of him.
Just having him this close to him in bed was already starting his day off
right.
He decided to play with JC a little.
He rolled his head in JC’s direction and blearily opened his eyes. “Jace?” he
sighed.
“Yeah, Lance.”
Lance closed his eyes and smiled inwardly.
“G’way.” He snuggled his head back into the pillow and waited for JC’s next
move.
“Ah, Lansten. You’re asking for it
now.” JC pulled the covers on the side of the bed he was sitting on down and
then maneuvered until they were out from under him. Then he grasped the top of
the blanket where it rested on Lance’s shoulder. With a hard yank he stripped
the blanket and sheet to the end of the bed.
An involuntary shudder rippled through
Lance as the cold air rushed over his bare back and legs. Immediately warm
hands were sliding up his arm and chest. With barely any warning he found
himself flat on his back with JC straddling him. He groaned and arched his body
pretending to get comfortable. If he wasn’t careful JC was going to know he was
up in more ways than one.
JC shivered when Lance arched into
him. He was in exactly the position he had dreamed of being in but damned if
Lance wasn’t asleep and he himself wasn’t fully dressed. JC sighed, guess he’d
just have to make a little lemonade with these lemons. Surely he could have
some fun in this position. Lance’s head fell to the side and an idea popped
into his mind.
He smoothed his hands up the firm
expanse of Lance’s abdomen and chest marveling at the sensual planes and angles
before pausing to lightly flick the flat, brown nipples with his thumbs. He
watched closely Lance’s eyes as they darted behind his closed lids but still
they remained closed. Since he appeared to still be safe he continued his
exploration. Of their own accord his hands drifted up to Lance’s shoulders. JC
softly massaged the hard muscles he found there before skimming his fingers
down Lance’s arms and back up again. When Lance still showed no signs of
waking, he trailed his fingers lightly down his ribcage smiling when the
beautiful face before him scrunched up, and he flinched away from the tickling
touch.
Lance lazily slapped at JC’s hands.
His touch tickled. He heard JC laugh and then felt him settle himself fully on
top of his groin.
JC sighed. “Lance, you’re not making
this easy. You’re supposed to open those mesmerizing green eyes of yours and
tell me to get my lazy ass off you so you can get ready.” He bounced in place
hoping to get through to Lance. “It’s against every rule for me to be ready
before you! Now open your eyes, baby, and get up. I refuse to face Joey and
Justin without you there to keep me in line.”
Lance resisted the urge to do exactly
as JC said, the sweet words making it nearly impossible to resist. Although JC
was slowly driving him insane, he was enjoying this little encounter. He blew
out a breath and shifted, arching into JC once again. He tried not to groan as
after a minute JC shifted and then leaned forward. The pressure on his groin
was sweet torture and with his already semi hard arousal, he figured JC would
get a little more than he bargained for in a few minutes.
Lance was unprepared for what JC did
next. He felt JC’s warm breath on his neck just before his tongue darted out to
lick his neck to the side of his Adam’s apple. His entire thought process shut
down at the first touch of JC’s tongue. The only thing that registered in his
mind was that JC’s warm and wonderful tongue and lips were sliding over his
neck toward his ear. Blood pounded furiously through his veins until it became
a roaring in his ears blocking out the sound of his labored breathing. The only
thing he could concentrate on was the trail of fire JC’s lips were burning.
When JC reached the sensitive spot just below his ear, Lance’s breath caught
and he let out a strangled moan.
JC, sensing that he had found the
magic spot, settled down to seriously suck and nibble at Lance’s neck. The
groans issuing from Lance’s lips were driving him wild. He could feel them
rumble up from deep within the chest he was pressed against. When Lance’s hands
settled on the back of his head he whimpered softly and ground his hips into
Lance’s.
“What the….”
JC jumped at the loud voice. He sat up
straight on top of Lance and turned his head toward the door. Joey, Chris, and
Justin stood just inside the room all in various states of shock. He felt Lance
tense underneath him and quickly swung his head around to look at his green
eyed angel. His panicked eyes met Lance’s and watched as that one blinked blearily
and tried to focus.
“Jace?”
JC watched Lance’s eyes slide past him
and rest on the trio now standing at the foot of the bed.
“Did I miss something? I don’t
remember scheduling a group meeting in my bedroom at,” Lance squinted at the
clock, “10:45 in the morning.”
Justin laughed and sat down on the
bed. He patted Lance’s leg as he spoke. “Nah, you didn’t.” He glanced at Joey
and Chris. “We let ourselves in. We come bearing breakfast.”
Chris broke in. “Yeah, and when we
came in you nor JC was downstairs so we came looking for you.” His face
scrunched up, and he looked at JC puzzled. “We found JC in here, ah…ah…”
JC threw out one of his hands. “Trying
to wake you up.” He glared at Chris. “That’s what I was doing.” He turned his
sapphire gaze on Lance. “You must have slept through your alarm. And let me
tell ya, I have never had that much trouble waking someone up before. I was
just about to go get some ice cause you were not responding to me
shaking you. And then Chris and Justin and Joey walked in and scared the crap
out of me and you were awake when I turned around.”
A small grin crossed Lance’s face as
he watched JC lie through his teeth. The babbling from the three of his friends
was very amusing and catching sight of Joey’s strained face he knew Joey
thought it was amusing too. He clenched his eyes and faked a yawn. Looking back
up at JC, he patted his thighs where they were resting against his sides. He
smiled apologetically. “Sorry, but…” he quickly flipped JC onto his back and
rested between his legs for a moment before pushing himself up, “next time you
might want to pretend I’m Sleeping Beauty and you’re Prince Charming. That
might wake me up.”
Joey lost control at that point and
burst out laughing. Lance looked over to see him cover his mouth and hurriedly
exit the room. A smirk crossed his face as he turned back to the other
occupants of the room. Chris was standing with a silly grin on his face. Justin
was regarding Lance with an unreadable expression as he fiddled with the blanket
and JC just appeared stunned. He offered his hand to JC. “Come on, Josh. You
can’t laze in bed all day. We have places to do and people to see…no…” He
looked confused, “We have places to see and people…Ah, damn it! We have things
to do. Get up!”
Lance yawned as he made his way down
the stairs to the laundry room. It figured that he would remember to restock
JC’s bathroom with towels but not his own. He had to keep his priorities
straight after all he thought ruefully. Supplying JC with everything he could
need or want was his top priority. Even if the need was something as small as
clean towels. He shook his head. Love was turning him in to a sap.
On his way back upstairs with an
armload of towels Lance heard voices drifting out of the kitchen. He paused
momentarily and thoughtfully glanced down the hall toward the sound. He heard
his and JC’s names and curiosity got the better of him. Quickly he glanced up
the stairs to make sure JC was nowhere in sight and then he stealthily crept
down the hallway until he could make out the voices and what they were saying
clearly.
“…course you would think it was funny,
Joe. You aren’t the one that’s walked in on two sets of your friends in
seemingly intimate situations in less than twenty-four hours.” There was a
pause before Chris continued. “At this rate I’m gonna be institutionalized
within a week telling the nice nurses that I’m really not insane. It was the
yellow wallpaper that made me do it.”
“What in the world are you talking
about?”
“You know, The Wallpaper. That story
where some chick goes insane by staring at….nevermind. So, how well do you
think JC’s plan is working?”
Lance’s ears perked up. What kind of
plan did JC have? Did it involve him and, if so, was that a good thing?
“I think it’s working great. Did you
hear how Lance was moaning? Even in his sleep Jace was making him hot.” There
was a pause in which Lance waited for one of them to continue. “You know,
Chris, technically that little scene means I won our bet. JC was making
a move on Lance.”
“No way! Nuh uh! Both participants
have to be conscious. And it has to go a hell of a lot farther than
necking.”
“Ugh! Guys, stop it! For one of you to
win they have to get together…They are still not together so there is no winner
yet.”
“Just spoil our fun, Justin.” Lance
could hear the pout in Joey’s voice. Justin would be sleeping alone tonight he
thought with a smile.
“It’s a dirty job but somebody has to
do it,” was the flippant reply.
“What about you, Jus. You think it’s
working?” Chris asked Justin.
There was a loud sigh as Lance waited
for Justin’s answer.
“I’m not sure. I mean it’s obvious Lance
wants him but I don’t know if he’s falling for JC’s stupid plan. I swear I
tried to talk him into just coming out and telling Lance how he feels but he
was spouting off some shit about wanting to pursue Lance and make him feel like
he was courted properly cause it would be the last time anyone would ever get a
chance to make a play for him. He wants to follow through ‘til the end. He’s
convinced he can drive Lance right into his arms by driving him crazy.”
There was a groan that sounded like
Joey. “And we’re all accomplices. Sometimes I have a hard time remembering who
knows what secret. There’s JC’s secret that Lance doesn’t know. Lance’s secret
that JC doesn’t know. Mine and Justin’s little charade that neither of them
knows and other minor secrets that give one or more of us a minor edge in this
battle of love.”
“What do you mean minor secrets that
give an edge?”
“Oh, nothing. Just that me and Chris
know something you don’t, Curly.”
“Grr….”
Lance could hear sounds of wrestling
around going on. He was truly stunned by what he had heard. A silly grin spread
across his face. JC loved him. JC loved him and he had enlisted the help of
their friends to make him realize it. His grin turned into a frown. He should
have just said something. There was no need for JC to try to drive him crazy to
get him in his arms. That was his favorite place to be. Chris’s scolding tone
brought him out of his thoughts.
“How do you two expect them to believe
you’re in a relationship when you keep acting like that?”
“They’ll just think we like to get
physical.” Justin quipped.
“Right, Jus. Your and Joey’s harebrained
scheme is almost as crazy as JC’s. I mean, do you really think they’re gonna
believe you and Joey are a couple?” there was a long pause during which Lance
knew Chris was weighing his words carefully. He and Chris had discussed on more
than one occasion how they thought Joey had a thing for Justin. “It’s
ludicrous. Neither one of you suits the other.”
“Hey!”
“What the hell?”
Lance smiled at their reaction. It
looked like he and Chris were right. There was definitely somet-
“‘Sides, we’re only pretending so
Lance and JC won’t feel like they’re jumping into the deep end of the pool.”
There was a sound of choking laughter
before Joey’s voice rose. “Yeah, but, Jus, something tells me those two would love
to drown in each other.”
“Whatever, baby. You’re just jealous
I’m not drowning in you.”
“Sure, Jus, keep telling yourself
that.”
Lance leaned back against the wall. He
was flattered that his friends were going to such lengths to get him and JC
together but at the same time it was a little upsetting. He supposed, though,
he should give them a chance to explain. A thoughtful expression crossed his
face. And he knew just how to get that explanation. Quietly Lance crept back to
the stairs. There was a lot for him to think about. He needed to digest this
information and figure out how exactly he wanted to use it.
He shifted the towels in his arm as he
approached JC’s door. An idea popped into his head. It was time to light a fire
under JC. He grinned to himself. Two could play JC’s game. Without giving
himself the chance to change his mind he threw open JC’s door and quickly
strode to the bathroom. He pushed the door open without knocking and called
out, “Jace? Do you need any towels? I think I forgot to put any in here last
time I did the laundry.”
Lance suppressed a smile as a startled
yelp came from the shower. In a second JC’s head was poking out from behind the
frosted glass door looking at Lance questioningly. “Lance?”
“Yeah, Jace.” Lance casually walked
over to the counter and set the towels down. He turned slightly toward the
shower stall so he could see JC. When he saw that JC was still staring at him
he turned all the way around and leaned back against the counter. He absently
scratched his bare chest remembering the feel of JC’s hands on it earlier. He
tried not to smile as JC’s eyes followed the motion as if mesmerized. Lance
waited until JC’s eyes met his again and then he looked away. He patted the
towels with his hand. “I thought you might need some towels.”
“Ah,” JC sucked in a strangled breath
as Lance let his eyes drift back for a longer perusal of his body. Lance took
particular note of how JC’s nipples pebbled as he stared at them. He could
understand JC not wanting to give up his game. There were definite perks. “The
cabinet is full of towels, Lance. Thank you though.”
Lance smiled at the squeak in JC’s
voice and brought his eyes back up to JC’s. He blithely swung the towels up
into his arms. “Okay, I just wanted to make sure you were all right before I
get naked for my shower. I don’t want to be running around in the buff with
Joey, Chris, and Justin downstairs.”
JC’s eyes visibly deepened to a rich
sapphire as Lance watched. His pupils dilated and he had to swallow before he
could answer Lance. “Ah, yeah, that wouldn’t be a good idea. Naked. With them
in the house. Not a good thing.”
Lance nearly laughed out loud. It was
so easy to get to JC. He placed the towels back on the counter and picked up
just one of them. JC’s eyes widen as he moved within touching distance. Lance
calmly hooked the towel on the empty towel bar and leaned against the wall next
to JC’s head. He had a perfect view into the shower and he knew JC knew it.
However, he kept his eyes trained on JC’s face and offered a leisurely smile.
“Well, guess I’ll let you get back to your shower. I just wanted to make sure
everything was okay on the linen front.”
“Y-yeah, it’s fine.”
“Good then,” Lance pushed away from
the wall and let his eyes move slowly down JC’s body, “cause you really need to
get back to your shower. You’re dripping water all over the place.” Without
another word Lance turned on his heel, picked up his towels, and walked out
leaving a stunned JC to finish his shower.
“Geez, Lansten, what took you so long?
We’re starving!”
Lance rolled his eyes as he sat down
next to JC at the table. “I got sidetracked before I got in the shower.” He
accepted the coffee cup JC offered and took a drink. “Why’re you grumbling? You
could have started without me, Joe.” He casually placed his arm along the back
of JC’s chair with his fingers lightly rubbing the skin of JC’s upper arm
exposed by his wife beater.
“We did,” Joey grumbled. He then
turned to glare at JC, “but JC,” Joey stressed the name as though it were a bad
word, “made us stop and wait.”
JC tried to glare back at Joey but
Lance’s smooth caress was distracting him. “If I hadn’t stopped you there
wouldn’t have been any food left for Lance. You three act like you haven’t eat
in a week!”
Joey dropped his eyes to the table and
mumbled, “We had a long night. We’re hungry.”
JC choked on his juice. He coughed a
couple of times as Lance pounded him on the back. “Are you okay?”
JC coughed a few more times before
finally regaining enough breath to speak. He turned his watery eyes on Lance.
“Um, can we go back to your bed and start this day over again?”
Lance’s eyes widened slightly. That
was kind of forward. He was sorely tempted to say yes as he stared into JC’s
eyes, but then he remembered he had some squirm time coming. The pleading for
Lance to save him was evident. “Sorry, darlin’, not today. You’re stuck with
the events that have already happened.”
A sigh issued from JC’s lips as he
dropped his head. “I was afraid you were going to say that.” He paused to take
a fortifying drink from his coffee cup, avoiding the juice he had choked on
earlier. “Why don’t you start the meeting now?”
“Guys, before we start Joey and I need
to ask you for a big favor.” Everyone turned to look at Justin.
“Sure, Jus. What is it?” The hand that
Lance had been trailing over JC’s shoulder came to a stop. Lightly he squeezed
were JC’s neck met his shoulder. A second later he felt JC’s hand grip his knee
and when Justin started explaining the favor they needed JC nearly cut off the
circulation to his lower leg. Lance looked over at him and could tell that he
was trying his best not to laugh.
“Well, see, guys, Joey and I have
struck upon this really great idea…”
“They think it’s great,” Chris
deadpanned as he rolled his eyes.
Justin looked affronted. “It is a good
idea!” Chris was dismissed with a shake of Justin’s head. He met Lance and JC’s
questioning gazes again. “Anyway, it’s a very,” he stressed the word, “special
project. We, uh, kinda need constant proximity to make it work. So we, uh, we
were wondering if you maybe might, uh, um…”
Joey lightly ran his fingers over
Justin’s balled knuckles before straightening in his chair. “What Justin is
trying to say is that we need you, Lance, to trade busses with him.” An
apologetic smile to Lance and a brief glare to Chris was Joey’s only
expression. “Chris found out about the project and appointed himself supervisor
or we would have stuck him with JC.”
“Why is it that I suddenly feel so
loved?” JC said as a mock forlorn expression crossed his face. “I mean the love
in this room is astounding. No one would ever think you guys think it’s torture
to have to share a bus with me.”
Lance pulled JC into his arms and
started petting his head as though he were a small child. “Ah, Josh, don’t worry.
I’ll come live on your bus and we’ll have lots of fun while these losers work
on some stupid project.” He pretended not to notice the small wink JC sent
toward Justin as he fawned over him. There were some definite perks to knowing
what everyone was hiding. He was able to enjoy all the double entreaties and
unspoken gestures without anyone being the wiser.
Not that he would admit it to anyone
other than himself, but he enjoyed taking the games the guys played with each
other and then play them on his own terms. The best part was that none of them
ever suspected him of maneuvering them right were they wanted to be. Inwardly
he shrugged. They didn’t call him Scoop for nothing, and his way was usually
more efficient.
Movement against his chest pulled Lance
back to the situation at hand. JC had disentangled himself from his arms and
was leaning his elbows on the table. A groan nearly escaped Lance’s lips as he
caught sight of the perky smile on JC’s face. He resisted the urge to slap his
hand across his eyes. JC was going to put Justin and Joey on the hot spot. He
just knew it.
“Soooo…” JC twiddled with a fork as he
innocently looked up at Joey and Justin, “what kind of project are ya workin’
on? Anything I can do to help?”
A look of panic flashed briefly across
both Justin and Joey’s faces as they glanced at each other. “Well, um, er, not
to be rude, but…”
Chris cut Justin off. “The truth is,
JC, that they could tell you about the project and you could help
but then they’d have to kill you and bury your body. And, near as I can tell,
neither Lance, the fans nor the authorities would take to kindly to that.”
Chris reached over and patted JC on the cheek. “So just play nice with Lance on
your bus and we’ll tell the both of you all about this project when we get it
finished.”
JC pouted as everyone laughed. Inside
he was silently applauding. They had effectively avoided his questions and
rendered his and Lance’s discussion on living arrangements unnecessary. Now he
and Lance wouldn’t have to explain why they suddenly wanted to share a bus and
there was less chance of his underlying feelings accidentally leaking out to
Lance while they tried to come up with a plausible excuse.
The thought of Lance had JC turning
his head in that direction. To his surprise sparkling green eyes met his and
they shared a secret smile before turning back to their friends. Lance nudged
JC with his knee getting his attention and JC winked to acknowledge him. They
shared another grin before continuing their discussion for heading back out on
the road.
