"It's your dad and he's doing it for money !"
The Origin of DadTV

1: The Fudpuckers
Line up : Gary Pearce (Vox) Nick Becker (Drums) Stuart Taylor (Guitar) Chas Surgeoner (Bass)
Songs : Plastic Nun, Fever, Bad Moon Rising, Down In The Cellar

When Chas Surgeoner asked Gary Pearce to sing in his band at short notice, he thought ‘ Yeah, OK ‘. They came up with the name ‘The Fudpuckers’ – (a fish found off the coast of Florida, apparently!) and two weeks later the gig went as well as could be expected after just 3 rehearsals. Soon after, the usual apathy set in, when that old chestnut ‘musical differences’ reared its ugly head. Nick and Gary left to form a new band.

2: Dad TV (1)
Line up : Gary (Vox) Nick Becker (Drums) Stuart Arscott (Guitar) Nigel Glynn (Guitar) Rob Dell (Bass)
Songs : Beat Me, Can’t Get Through, Catch My Fall, Higher Ground

We had a few rehearsals (of which at least 2 were taped) with this line up. It was always going to be temporary though, and soon we found a bass player with the punky sound we were looking for.

3: Dad TV (2)
Line up : Gary (Vox/guitar) Nick Becker (Drums) Nigel Glynn (Guitar) Rat (Bass)
Songs : It’s Your Dad, Harry Who?, Now or Never, Walk The Path Home, Pressure, Can’t Get Through, Big C, Last Time, Killing Fields, Everything About You, Wipeout, Catch My Fall, Better Luck Next Time, Woman, Fire

Paul, or ‘Rat’ as he was better known, was a mate of Nigel’s, so he was in. Luckily he could also play the bass pretty well. Soon, the name Dad TV was agreed on (I think it came from Drunk And Disorderly Transvestites – you’ll have to ask Nige). It was about this time that Gary started to play the guitar regularly, which fattened out the sound considerably. The excellent gig at the Square in Harlow remained a high point, and in fact turned out to be the last time DadTV were seen on stage...
