Spiritual
Interests
My spiritual interests are relatively simple. I like the security of truth, the warmth of love, the inspiration of passion, and the assurance of eternity.  Is that too much to ask for?
I find that most religious organizations are no more or no less egocentric than any other human group. Our language, our fashions, our governments are all based on egocentric drives. If I can describe what I'm thinking here, lets use the phrase,"I see that distant star."
The egocentrism is that you put yourself as the actuator of that event when, in fact, it was the star that sent light to you so that you could merly precieve the act initiated by the star.
Being a Christian is a title I treasure. Not because I found God; not because I realized that I was a lost sinner; not because I determined that the sacrifice of Christ was suficient to cover my transgressions, but because "He came to me."  God sought me out, bought me out, and caught me out of the state I was born in and I am the recipient of His initiation of love, grace and power. Even further, I am the recipient of His initiation of existance. Aren't we all?
My religious training is from many sunday school classes and Evangle College in Springfield, MO. I have attended many more years in Baptist, Nazarene, and Open Bible Churches than I have in Assembly of God Churches but I have no disdain for any of them. In every faith, Christian or other, I found wonderfully caring and sincere people who wished with all of their being to act in a manner that was consistant with their teachings. This is fine but it is also egocentric. They are the initiators because they are doing the acting.  A Christian isn't an actor; a real Christian is simply being who God has made  to be. Some good, some not so good. Some warm and kind, some not.
There it is.
If you disagree,
you have my e-mail
and
you can tell me what
you think.
Please don't be ...
egocentric.
