Roy C Crites, 65, Martinsburg, died Monday at the Veterans Administration Hospital there following an extended illness.
     Born July 6, 1918 in Grant County, he was the son of Roy E Crites, Dorcas and the late Lucy (Burgess) Crites.
     Mr Crites was an Army veteran of WWII.
  Surviving besides his father are a daughter, Mrs Lois Higgs, Upper Marlboro, Md; a son, Roy C Crites, Jr, Capitol Heights, Md; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs Viola Miller, Keyser; Mrs Janet Keplinger, Manassas, Va; Mrs Sudie Rinker, Purgitsville; Miss Mary Crites, Dorcas; Mrs Emogene Hinkle, Mt Storm; four brothers, Glenville Crites and Victor Crites both of Dorcas, Leon Crites, West Palm Beach, Fl; Willis Crites, Harrisonburg, Va
    A memorial service will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at the Arnold-Basagic Funeral Home by Brother Merrill Kopp.
   The body will be cremated.
  The family suggests that memorials take the form of donations to the Grant County Cancer Fund.

   Leah V Canan, 90, of Rt 1, Keyser, WV died Saturday, July 16, 1994 at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, WV
Born Jun 20, 1904 in Grant County she was the daughter of the late Albert & Emma Tucker Rotruck. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest G Canan.
    Mrs Canan was a homemaker and member of the Harness Run Church of the Brethren. 
  Survivors include two daughters, Aretta J Rogers, Keyser; Arvella Riggleman, Burlington; one sister, Carmen Rohrbaugh, Romney; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
    Friends wil be received from 2-4 and 7-9 pm today at Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser.
  Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Carol Yerkey and the Rev Don Matthews officiating.  Interment will be in the Canan Family Cemetery, Burlington, WV

Mrs. WW Cooper
Mrs Zalemma E Cooper, 82, RD 3 Deer Park, Md died yesterday at her home.  Born in Williamsport, WV Grant County she was the daughter of the late James G Rotruck and Annie George Rotruck. Her husband, W Webster Cooper died in 1937.
  She was a member of Deer PArk Church of God of Prophecy.  Surviving are three daughters, Mrs Helen Shillingburg, Elk Garden, WV; Mrs Lillian Tasker and Mrs Maxine Tasker, both of Deer Park, Md  36 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home in Oakland, Md today from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
Services will be conducted in Church of God of Prophecy tomorrow at 2 pm with Rev John R Jones officiating.
  Interment will be in the Cooper Cemetery.  The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services

Forrest A. "Pap" Cosner, 89, of 469 West Piedmont St., Keyser, WV, died Wednesday March 03, 1999, at the home of his daughter, Rebecca Bacorn.

Born July 26, 1909, at Bismark, WV, he was a son of the late Wilbur and Rebecca (Rinker) Cosner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Katherine L. (Nichol) Cosner on May 01, 1988, a daughter Kathleen Ann Sanders on June 14, 1987, one brother Troy Cosner, one sister, Blanche Day, and one half sister, Delores Foreman.

Mr. Cosner was retired as a shift foreman in the boiler house with the Celanese Amcelle Plant. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist church, Keyser; Davis Lodge #51, A.F. &A.M., Keyser; Scottish Rite bodies, Wheeling; and the Springfield Ruritan Club.

He was also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and his hobbies and interests included hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family. Mr. Cosner was also a well known carpenter throughout the area.

Surviving are one son, Forrest D. Cosner and wife Dottie, Keyser; three daughters, Nancy L. Corbin, Keyser, Rebecca "Becky" Bacorn and husband Wayne, Keyser and Sadie Kay Lymburner and husband Charlie, Williamsville, N.Y.; one brother, Darrell Cosner, Farmingdale, Ohio; one sister, Dorwina Cosner, Elkins, WV; ten grandchildren, J.D. Corbin, Michael Corbin, Mary Kaye Rizer, Nancy Jo Williams, Becky Moore, Pam Donlin, Charles Lymburner, Tisha Cosner, Nichole Lymburner and Forrest Lymburner; 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 06, 1999 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Stotler and Rev. Sue Culbertson Jarrett officiating.

Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, WV

Davis Lodge #51, A.F. &A.M. will accord Masonic graveside rites.

Floe Jean Carter, 75, of Cumberland Maryland died Wednesday, November 26 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. She had been a resident of Frostburg village Nursing Home, Frostburg, Maryland.

Born November 02, 1922 in Mt. Storm, she was the daughter of the late Warner and Freda (Likens) Hanlin. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Elmer Hanlin, Garland Hanlin, Ernest Hanlin and Lester Hanlin; and two sisters, Alice George and Pauline Reedy.

Mrs. Carter was a retired employee of the Cumberland Times-News newspaper.

She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Carter of Cumberland; one daughter, Elizabeth Jane Light of LaVale, Maryland; one brother, Kenneth Hanlin of WV; five sisters, Betty Cosner of Romney, Evelyn Bosley, Mt. Storm, Laura Shreve of Oakland, Maryland and Glenna Streets and Leona Dawson, both of Arthur; two granddaughters, Janelle Light of Pamplona, Spain and Julie Light of LaVale; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Saturday afternoon at Marritt-Adams Funeral Home chapel, Cumberland. Interment was in the Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Cumberland, Maryland.

Alfred R. Cosner, 78, of Mt. Storm, died Saturday, August 21, 1999 at his residence.

Born June 07, 1921, in Bismark, WV, he was the son of the late Martin Asa and Betty V. (Moreland) Cosner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice (Likens) Cosner, June 15, 1988; one infant son; one sister, Dorothy Kesner, and two brothers, Melvin Cosner and Luther Cosner. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Mr. Cosner retired from West Virginia Department of Highways and was a member of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by his adopted daughter, Angie Cosner of Mt. Storm; sister-in-laws Ruth Cosner, and husband Blaine and Audrey Hanlin and husband Harman, all of Mt. Storm, Maxine Cosner of Petersburg and Betty Cosner of Romney; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are today Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Likens Family Cemetery, Mt. Storm with the Rev. John Walker and the Rev. Angela Cosner officiating.

PETERSBURG, W.Va. 
Goldie Roscoe Crites, 92, of Petersburg, died on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital, in Harrisonburg, Va.

Born on Oct. 3, 1907, in Dobbin, W.Va., he grew up in the Dorcas area, where he visited regularly in his daily car travels for the last many years of his life. He was the son of the late George Edward Crites and Myrtle Stump Crites. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Delona Hull Crites; and his daughter, Rose Marie Crites.

Along with his late wife, Delona, who worked as one of the original "Rosie the Riveters" during World War II, Roscoe also proudly served his Country by working on the assembly line at the Detroit Airplane Plant, in Detroit, Mich. Upon returning to Petersburg after the War, he worked at the Petersburg Tannery and then for the Petersburg Oil Company where he retired after many years of service.

Mr. Crites was a long standing and faithful member of the Grove Street United Methodist Church. He was also a loyal and proud member of the International Order of Oddfellows and the Modern Woodsmen. He was a chartered member of Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company.

Surviving are his grandson, Jon Michael Crites, of Charlestown, S.C.; his sister-in-law, Kitty Lou (Hull) Barr, of Petersburg; one sister, Elsie Whitmer, of Petersburg; two half sisters, Daisy Frize, of Martinsburg, Gaynell (Bunnie) Eagle, of Old Town; and many devoted nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Petersburg Grove Street United Methodist Church, on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Longbon, officiating.

Visitation will be at church two hours prior to the service.

Burial will be at the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville, W.Va.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grove Street United Methodist Church, in Petersburg.

Hazel M. Crites, age 82, of Petersburg, W.Va., died Friday, May 28, 1999, at her residence.

Born May 20, 1917, in Rough Run, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Arlie E. Simmons and Cora (Sites) Simmons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Melvin Crites Sr., on March 27, 1986.

Mrs. Crites was a retired registered nurse. She was employed for 30 years at the Springfield State Hospital, Sykesville, Md. She was a member of the Petersburg Grace Lutheran Church.

Surviving are one son, James M. Crites Jr. of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two daughters, Donna Reel of Grafton, W.Va., and Betty Cooper of South Boston, Va.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Beulah Hinkle of New Market, Va.; one brother, Galen H. Simmons of Rough Run, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at Petersburg Grace Lutheran Church, Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fred A. Soltow Jr. officiating.

Interment will be in the South Branch Memorial Gardens, Petersburg, W.Va.

Memorials may be made to the Petersburg Grace Lutheran Church.

Rose Marie Crites, age 50, of Morgantown, died on Tuesday, July 13, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown. Ms. Crites fought a valiant two-year battle with leukemia.

Born Aug. 25, 1948, in Petersburg, she was the only child of G. Roscoe Crites, Petersburg, and the late Delona (Hull) Crites. Her mother, Delona, one of the original "Rosie the Riveters" during World War II, named her daughter "Rosie" in remembrance of those days in the Detroit Airplane Plant where she and Roscoe performed their wartime duty to this nation. Rosie was also the granddaughter of the late Albert and Odessa Frye Hull; and the niece of the late Anna Lee and James M.K. Reid Jr., and Kitty Lou and Roland Barr, Petersburg.

Ms. Crites was a member of the United Methodist Church. She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1966 and received an associate's degree from Potomac State College in 1968. She moved to Morgantown in 1968 to begin her career, and for the past 23 years has served as the lead Administrative Assistant to the Monongalia Prosecuting Attorney in Morgantown.

Besides her father, Roscoe, now age 91, she is survived by her son, Jon Michael Crites, age 29, of Charleston, S.C.; her beloved, longtime companion and partner in life, Charles Slominski; and her wonderdog, Cricket. Also surviving are numerous devoted cousins and other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Petersburg Grove Street United Methodist Church on Thursday, July 22, 1999, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Longbon officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be at the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.

George Dewey Cosner Jr., 70, of Oldtown, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.

Born Nov. 11, 1931, in Petersburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late George Dewey Cosner Sr. and Mary (McDonald) Cosner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Maysell Elizabeth Cosner, Nov. 16, 1989; one brother, Orville "James" Cosner; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Cosner; and two sisters, Ada Alt and Kathleen Lyons.

Mr. Cosner was a former employee of Consolidated Orchards. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was Protestant by faith and a member of the Oldtown VFW.

Surviving are two sons, Noah A. Cosner Sr. and wife Lelia, and Gary R. Cosner, all of Cumberland; one daughter, Frances E. Garlitz, Cumberland; four sisters, Janet Weimer, Petersburg, Josephine Wilson and husband Robert, Rockville, Frances Hall and husband Clifton, Elkton, and Helen Bierman and husband James, Cumberland; three special friends, Juanita Bloss, Guy Charles Mongold and William Jacob Mongold; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

At Mr. Cosner’s request, he was cremated at the Scarpelli Funeral Home Crematory. Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.

A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with the Captain C. Theodore Owenby officiating.

Inurnment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

Hugh V. Calhoun, 89, of Petersburg, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg.

Born May 5, 1910, in Mozer, W.Va., he was the son of the late William Cecil and Emma S. (Graham) Calhoun. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Delphia M. (Yokum) Calhoun, on May 11, 1993; one son, Larry Calhoun; two brothers, William "Bill" Calhoun, and Charles R. Calhoun; five sisters, Minnie Kimble, Nora Arbogast, Gladys Heavener, Annie Leach, and Jessie Harman.

Mr. Calhoun was a member of the Gordon Chapel United Methodist Church in Landes where he served as trustee. He was a life-time farmer, was a construction worker and a foreman for the WV State Department of Highways in Grant County. He resided at the Grant County Nursing Home since January 27, 1995.

Surviving are three sons, Dwight Calhoun, of Petersburg, W.Va., Ralph Calhoun, of Petersburg, W.Va., and Jimmy Calhoun, of Hurricane, W.Va.; one sister, Leona Schell, of E.A. Hawse Continuous Care Center, Baker, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, on Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be at the funeral home, on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Phillips and the Rev. John Wildman, officiating.

Burial will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville, W.Va.

Susan Elizabeth Cameron, 38, of Petersburg, passed away Monday morning, June 8, 1998, at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.

Born May 2, 1960, in Illinois, she was the daughter of Dorothy Lloyd from Belleville, Ill.

Mrs. Cameron was an active member of the Moorefield Church of Christ, Pack 60 and Troop 60 Boy Scouts of America, and was an 1980-84 Veteran of Navy Core.

Surviving are her husband, Dale Cameron; two sons, Dale Cameron II and Kevin Andrew Cameron, Petersburg. Also surviving are three sisters, Michelle Rutledge, Monk's Corner, S.C., Shelia Thomas, Jackie Thomas, Belleville; and one brother, Keith Thomas, Belleville.

Friends may call anytime after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Elmore-Chambers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Elmore-Chambers Funeral Home, with Larry Redman, Minister of the Church of Christ, officiating.

Born at Burlington, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Nora M. (Leatherman) Rotruck.

She was a member of Knobley Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are her husband, Howard R. Cheshire; five sons, Howard Junior Cheshire of Burlington, William E. Cheshire of Oregon, Jerry Cheshire and Roy Cheshire of Antioch Route and Harry Cheshire at home; seven daughters, Mrs. Ruby Leatherman, Mrs. Ruth Leatherman, Mrs. Sandra Wilfong, and Mrs. Linda McAvoy, of Antioch Route, Mrs. Mary Lou Rotruck of Shenandoah Junction, Mrs. Margie Rotruck of Harpers Ferry, and Mrs. Darlene Cadle of Keyser; one nephew one niece and 24 grandchildren.

Jimmie H. "Jim" Cosner, 66, of Fairmont, died Feb. 10,2001  at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.

Born Feb. 7, 1935, in Gormania, he was the son of the late Carl and Lottie (Parker) Cosner.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Cosner) Cosner; one son, Richard Cosner of Fairmont; one brother, Clyde W. Cosner of Elkins; two sisters, Elva Nardi of Fairmont, and Mary Louise Layton of Bayard; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was Feb. 13, at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Monongah. Memorial services were June 16, at the Bayard Cemetery.

Born April 16, 1924, at Bismarck, he was the son of the late Aaron Basil and Flossie Marie (Moore) Cosner.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris P. "Sally" (Amtower) Cosner; one son, Gary G. Cosner of Mount Storm; one daughter, Karen "Susie" Merritt of Mount Storm; three brothers, A. Blaine Cosner and Wardney L. Cosner, both of Mount Storm, and Ronald Lynn Cosner of Elk Garden; one sister, Norma Hanlin of Mount Storm; two grandsons, Jeff and Jason Heath of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and three granddaughters, Rebecca Davenport and Julie Cosner, both of Raleigh, N.C., and Paula Merritt of Mount Storm.

Funeral services were April 29, at the Smith Funeral Home chapel, Keyser, with interment in the Mount Storm Cemetery, Mount Storm.

Mrs. Bonnie Lee Crites, 68, of Rig, died Friday, April 27, 2001  at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.

Born April 23, 1933, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Clara (Moyer) Shreve. She was also preceded in death by her husband, "Harvey" Crites in January 1997.

She is survived by six sons, Johnny Crites and Loring J. Crites Jr., both of Petersburg, Lemuel S. Crites, Mackie Crites, Scottie Crites and Fred Crites, all of Moorefield; five daughters, Sue Hines and Peggy Thorne, both of Moorefield, Rose Armentrout and Christina Crites, both of Rig, and Jeanette Ours of Petersburg; two sisters, Shirley Crites of Rig, and Betty Moyers-Devine of Erie, Pa.; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were April 30, at the Rig Assembly of God Church, with interment in the Clara Crites Cemetery, Critestown.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Fraley Funeral Home, Moorefield.

Mrs. Louella G. Cosner, 90, of Mount Storm, died April 15, 2001  at her home.

Born May 6, 1910, in Keyser, she was the daughter of the late Wright and Blanche J. (Jewell) Davy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lewis H. Cosner in 1949. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by four daughters, Maxine Ours of Fountain, and Janet Jones of Oakland, Md., Irene Hawk and Loretta Fishel, both of Mount Storm; three sons, Rex Cosner and Eddie Cosner, both of Mount Storm, and Robert Cosner of Baltimore; 25 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were April 18, at the Mount Storm Presbyterian Church, Mount Storm, with interment in the Idleman Cemetery, Mount Storm.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland.

Evelyn (Kesner) Cornell, 70, of Pocomoke City, Md., died March 15, 2001  at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md.

Born July 31, 1930, in Mozer, she was the daughter of the late John William and Mary (Smith) Kesner. Her husband of 47 years, Wayne R. Cornell, preceded her in death, Oct. 24, 1999.

She is survived by two daughters, Debra Scott of Pocomoke City and Dena Daniels of Columbia, Md.; one son, David Cornell of Ellicott City, Md.; seven grandchildren, John Scott, Kristen Parsons, Matthew Cornell, Patrick Cornell, Anthony Daniels, Jessica Daniels and Catherine Daniels; two sisters, Blanche Harman of Upper Tract and Arletta Sears of Petersburg; a brother, Roy E. "Jake" Kesner of Hopwood, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were March 18, at the Holloway Melson Funeral Home in Pocomoke City, with interment in the First Baptist Cemetery, Pocomoke City.

Thoburn E. Cassady, 80, of Pen Argyl, Pa., died Feb. 19, 2001  in Easton Hospital.

Born May 29, 1920, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late David L. and Kathleen R. (Michael) Cassady.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elwanda (Head) Cassady; two sons, Charles Cassady of Willow Grove, Pa., and Donald Cassady of Northampton, Pa.; one brother, Melvin Cassady of Waverly, Ohio; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Feb. 22, at the Faith United Presbyterian Church, Pen Argyl, with interment in Fairview Cemetery, Pen Argyl.

Born May 5, 1945, at Petersburg, he was the son of the late Glen Pickney and Rhoda Mae (Nelson) Conrad.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Longerbeam) Conrad; two daughters, Marsha Conrad and Stacie Conrad, both at home; one son, Glen Conrad of Charles Town; two brothers, William "June" Conrad of Cabins, and Charles "Tubby" Conrad of Augusta; three sisters, Maxine Layton of Cumberland, Md., Rosella Thorpe of Baltimore, and Mary Sue Mairino of Middle River, Md.; one granddaughter, Savannah Conrad of Charles Town; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Feb. 7, at the Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home chapel, Harpers Ferry, with interment in Fairview Lutheran Cemetery, Bolivar.

Oliver Paige Corbin, 90, of Petersburg and formerly of Ripley, died Jan. 14, 2001 at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg, following a short illness.

Born Oct. 27, 1910, at Kenna, he was the son of the late J.D. and Tina (Bowles) Corbin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Catherine (Archer) Corbin, in 1961.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vera V. (Cosner) Cosner, whom he married March 4, 1936; two daughters, the Rev. Carol Yerky of Maysville, and June E. Waybright of Mount Storm; one sister, Marie Kifer of Elk Garden; and one grandson, LaVerne Waybright of Bethesda, Md.

Funeral services were Jan. 22, at the Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, Bismarck, with interment in Locust Grove Cemetery.

Bagwell; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia K. Bagwell.

Delbert O. "Doc" Cosner, 79, of 15612 Harvest Drive, S.W., Cumberland, (Belair), died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at the home of his daughter.

Born on June 19, 1922, at Bismarck, W.Va., he was a son of the late Roy A. and Arrena M. (Moreland) Cosner. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Naomi Marie Cosner and two brothers, Virgil and Amos Cosner.

Mr. Cosner was retired as a foreman in the powder service department at Allegany Ballistics Laboratory with 35 1/2 years of service. He was a former member of the Rawlings United Methodist Church and currently was a member of the Fountain United Brethren in Christ Church, Fountain, W.Va. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Aerie 2883 Fraternal Order of Eagles, Cresaptown, and the Haystack Mountain Rod and Gun Club. Mr. Cosner was also an avid bowler, hunter, and fisherman.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mildred D. (Hanlin); two sons, Delbert B. "Butch" Cosner and wife Carolyn of Terra Alta, W.Va. and Randy L. Cosner and wife Carol of Cumberland; one daughter, Judy L. Kimble and husband Dale of Keyser, W.Va.; one brother, Ray O. Cosner, a resident of the Hampshire Health Care Center, Romney, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Bryan R. Cosner, Nan Cosner, Matthew Cosner, Tonia L. Kimble, Scott Kimble, Bobby Kimble, David Kimble, and Kim Kimble; six great-grandchildren, Brittney Cosner, Seth Kimble, Desirae Kimble, Tristan Kimble, Shauna Proud, and Dakota Kimble.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Fountain United Brethren in Christ Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Dean and David Kimble officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.

Entombment will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, LaVale. Military honors will be accorded by the Allegany County Combined Veterans Organization.

Mrs. Margaret Wilson (Moomau) Coffman, 77, of Petersburg and Clearwater, Fla., died April 15, 2002 at a hospital in Clearwater of complications of pneumonia.

Born Jan. 25, 1925, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Sara (Taylor) Moomau.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Charles E. Coffman; two brothers, George B. Moomau of Petersburg and Henry F. Moomau of Oakland, Md.; two sisters, Mary M. Clark of Petersburg and Sally M. King of Warsaw, Va.; and many nieces and nephews and their children.

A memorial service was April 27, at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church, with interment in the Maple Hill Cemetery.

Loretta Frances Kline Lyons Clark, age 59, of Medley, WV, died at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA, Thursday, April 25, 1996.

She was born November 19, 1936 in Hagerstown, MD and was a daughter of Jennings Kline and Lucy Mackley Kline.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Lyons in 1970 and her second husband, William Clark in 1976.  She was also preceded in death by one daughter and one brother.

She attended the Lighthouse Community Church in Maysville, WV and was a homemaker.

Surviving are three daughters, Charlotte Mongold of Mathias, WV, Leotie Heavener of Maysville, WV, Loretta Mills of Baker, WV; one son, Edward Lyons, Jr. of Medley, WV; two brothers, John Kline and Ronald Kline; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, April 28, at the Lighthouse Community Church in Maysville with the Rev. Joseph Eversole officiating.  Burial was in Lahmansville.

A native of Johnstown, Pa., he was a son of the late Homer G. and Lizza (Marshall) Cassady.

A retired state roads supervisor in Grant county, he was a member of Moorefield Lodge 29, AF & AM.

Born September 25, 1915, he was a son of the late Sampson and Gladys (Stump) Cook.

Mr. Cook was a postal clerk at the Maysville Post Office.
Surviving are his widow, Mildred (Feaster) Cook, a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Clauze, Maysville, a son, Dwight cook, Biglerville, PA, two sisters, Mrs. Esther Shreve, Brushy Run, and Mrs. Blanch Kraft, Baltimore Maryland.

A service was conducted Sunday afternoon at the Maysville Gospel Center with the Rev. Lowell Rogers and Rev. James Heckman officiating.  Interment was in Lahmansville Cemetery.

He is also survived by three grandchildren.

Frederick A. Cosner, 58, died Sunday August 6, 1972 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, Maryland.

A native of Mt. Storm, he was a son of the late Jacob and Myrtle (Kuhn) Cosner.

Mr. Cosner, a carpenter by trade was a member of the Mt. Storm, WFW, and The South Baltimore Church of God and was a veteran of World War II, serving at Pearl Harbor during the December 7, 1941 Japanese attack.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Georgie E. (Nelson) Cosner, two daughters, Mrs. Mary A. Hipp, Baltimore, Mrs. Barbara R. Summerfield, Kasson, three sons, Fredrick A. Cosner, Jr. Alton, IL, Robert L. Mrs. Betty V. Cosner, 80 of Mt. Storm, died Saturday November 13, 1976 in Potomac Valley Hospital Keyser, WV.

Born in Bismarck, Grant County, February 2, 1896, she was a daughter of the late David and Mary (Aronhalt) Moreland.  Her husband, Martin A. Cosner died in 1961.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Burgess, Keyser, with whom she resided, three sons, Alfred Cosner, Mt. Storm, Melvin Cosner, Cabins, Luther Cosner, Middletown, Virginia, a sister, Mrs. Nora Cosner, Moorefield, three brothers, Arthur Moreland and Oliver Moreland both of Mt. Storm, Homer Moreland, Gormania, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted Monday afternoon in the Schaeffer Funeral home with Rev. Larry Lykins officiating.  Interment was in the Idleman Cemetery, Scherr.

Born in Grant County, June 15, 1896, he was the son of the late Laura Cook Rohrbaugh.

Twice married, his first wife, Mary Jane (Rohrbaugh) Cook preceded him in death in 1960. He was also preceded in death by two sons.

Survivors include his second wife, Sarah Keplinger Cook of Maysville, one daughter, Mrs. Nelda Burgess of Maysville, four sons/ Roscoe Cook and Sheriff Bernard Cook of Maysville, Clayford Cook of Leesburg, Virginia, Emmard Cook of Accokeek, Maryland, 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Vernie E. Starnes, Burlington; four sons, Clyde O. Cosner, Keyser, Calvin L, Tony A. and Glenn E. Cosner, all of Moorefield; two brothers, Oliver Moreland and Arthur Moreland, both of Mt. Storm; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Kenneth W. Crites, 84, of the Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana, died late Tuesday (June 10, 1986) at Burnham Hospital, Champaign.

Graveside services will be at 10 a. m. Thursday in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Mansfield.

Owens Funeral Home, Champaign, is handling arrangements.

Mr. Crites was born May 25, 1902, at Lahmansville, W. Va., a son of Isaac and Susan Pratt Crites. He married Ollie (Hardy) Crites on December 20, 1959 at Champaign. She died October 28, 1981.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Thelma Muse of Urbana and a brother, Leo Crites of Cumberland, Md.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Floe Jean Carter, 75, of Cumberland, Md., died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. She had been a resident of Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Frostburg, Md.

Born Nov. 2, 1922, in Mt. Storm, she was the daughter of the late Warner and Freda (Likens) Hanlin. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Elmer Hanlin, Garland Hanlin, Ernest Hanlin and Lester Hanlin; and two sisters, Alice George and Pauline Reedy.

Mrs. Carter was a retired employee of the Cumberland Times-News newspaper.

She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Carter of Cumberland; one daughter, Elizabeth Jane Light of LaVale, Md.; one brother, Kenneth Hanlin of West Virginia; five sisters, Betty Cosner of Romney, Evelyn Bosley, Mt. Storm, Laura Shreve of Oakland, Md., and Glenna Streets and Leona Dawson, both of Arthur; two granddaughters, Janelle Light of Pamplona, Spain and Julie Light of LaVale; and several nieces and nephews.

Edna Virginia (Borror) Clayton, 80, of Burlington, N.C. and formerly of Grant County, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997, at University of North Carolina Hospital, Chapel Hill, N.C.

Born Feb. 15, 1917, in Grant County, she was the daughter of the late James H. Borror and Ada Belle (Judy) Borror. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Wright Clayton, four brothers, Arlie E. Borror, Rumsey R. Borror, John H. Borror and James Earl Borror; and one sister, Dora E. Cosner.

Mrs. Clayton was a member of the Temple Baptist Church of Durham, N.C. and attended Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Burlington.

She is survived by one son, Elmer William “Bill” Landis, of Raymond, Puerto Rico; four daughters, Shirley Faulkner of Burlington, Carol Horne of Pinehurst, N.C., Ruby Dixon of Murphy, N.C. and Millie Dixon of Waynesville, N.C.; three brothers, Calvin C. Borror and Richard E. Borror, both of Upper Tract, and Ronald L. Borror of Petersburg; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews survive.

Funeral services are today (Tuesday), at 11am, at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home chapel, Burlington, N.C., with the Rev. Jim Hobbs officiating. Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Burlington.

Miss Jenny L. Crites, 21, of Fisher, died Thursday, July 2, 1998, at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.

Born Jan. 27, 1977, at Winchester, Va., she was the daughter of Jim Crites of Petersburg and Wanda K. Crites of Fisher. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Ellen Virginia Keplinger.

Miss Crites was employed at Wampler Foods in Moorefield. She was a lifelong resident of Hardy County.

She was a 1995 graduate of Moorefield High School. While in school, she was a member of Girl Scouts and had received the American Woodmark Good Citizen Award. She was also a graduate of South Branch Vo-Tech Center in Petersburg, where she was a member of FBLA and had received numerous awards.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her stepfather, James Judy; her stepmother, Sue Crites; two brothers, Michael Crites of Winchester and Greg Crites of Albertville, Ala.; two sisters, Twin Penny Crites and Stephanie Coon, both of Fisher; maternal grandfather, Herbert Keplinger of Romney; paternal grandparents, Ernie and Thelma Crites of Moorefield; and one niece, Vanessa Crites of Fisher.

Funeral services were Sunday afternoon, at the Moorefield Church of the Brethren, with the Revs. Ron Bowyer and Donnie Harper officiating. Interment was in Olivet Cemetery, Moorefield.

Memorials may be made to the Moorefield High School Scholarship Fund.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Fraley Funeral Home, Moorefield.
