Our
Faith...
It
is our desire to touch someone...to soften a hardened heart...to make salvation
clear to those who may be confused & uncertain...to offer heavenly
solutions to seemingly hopeless situations....to point the way to eternal
life by the one means available:
Jesus
Christ.
I
have borrowed this illustration story from a wonderful Internet friend
of mine who has a gift for making the hard-to-comprehend clear.
Thank you, Ronda!!

~The
Gift~
Imagine,
if you will, that you come to visit me at my home. It is a time of
celebration and the whole house is decorated for the festive occasion.
It could be Christmas, the time our family celebrates the birth of our
Savior, Jesus Christ; or it could be your birthday...whatever you choose
as the special event.
Over
in an especially bright corner of the main room sits an extravagantly wrapped
gift. The gift is very large and so wondrous just to look at!!
I take you aside and tell you that the gift is just for you. Your
eyes widen. I tell you that this gift cost me more than you could
ever imagine, no amount of money could purchase this gift; it was bought
with something much more precious, so much so that you cannot even comprehend!!
Your heart starts pounding a bit quicker now. "What a marvelous thing
it must be!", you think to yourself. "All you must do is accept it
and it will be yours forever. Nothing in the universe can ever take
it from you," I say as I leave you to think about all you've been told.
You
sit there, gazing at the gift. You gently touch its beautiful wrappings,
you run you hands along its shape...but you never open it. You never
claim it.
....later,
the celebration time is over and everyone is leaving. You rise to
go as well...leaving the gift where it lies; unopened, unclaimed, unaccepted.
As you walk down the path with the other guests, I stare at your back in
amazement. I can't understand why you didn't accept the gift I gave
you?? It was offered and purchased with such love in my heart...all
you had to do was claim it as yours....and you have refused it...
This,
my friend, is how Jesus must feel when someone rejects the gift of salvation
that He offers to every human being. This story helps illustrate
the overwhelming grief He must feel. Jesus left the glory of His
kingdom to come here, to suffer as a human cruelties more horrible than
we can imagine, even death, to save our eternal souls. All He asks
is that we love and serve Him. We don't have to pass some grueling
test of physical or mental power. We don't have to be perfect.
He came to bridge the gap, created by sin, between us and our Heavenly
Father God. Without Jesus' self-sacrifice on the cross, His death,
burial and resurrection, it is impossible to span that chasm. God
cannot look upon sin, any sin; great or small...it's all the same
and abominable to God. Only by coming through Jesus Christ can we
come into God's presence. Through Him, we are made clean and acceptable
to God. We don't become perfect all of a sudden, no! We become
forgiven and cleansed.
Won't
you think about what you've read here today?? If you have further
questions, I would be more than happy to help you in any way I can.
Please Email me!! I have kept this as simple as possible for the
understanding of many. I'm sure there are issues not addressed here
except for the most important one: YOUR SALVATION!!
Do
you know Jesus?? Have you asked Him into your heart and life?? If
you would like to receive Him, you can pray this prayer, or one like it
and invite Jesus to become your Savior:
Jesus,
I come to you realizing that I am not deserving of Your love & forgiveness,
but that You have chosen to extend these gifts to me anyway. I thank
You for coming to die on a cross for my sins. I thank You for rising
that third day to go prepare an eternal home for me. I recognize You as
the one Lord, the Son of God and Savior of the world. I ask You now,
Dear Jesus, to come into my life and make me whole. I want to begin
living my life for You. Lead me and guide me that I may be what You'd
have me be.
In
Your name I pray, Amen.
If
you have prayed this prayer, please get in touch with someone (a pastor,
deacon, Sunday school teacher or Christian counselor) who can help
you begin your Christian life on the right path. Email me!
I'd love to be the first to welcome you to the Family of God!
It is my hope
& prayer that the information on this page will be of help to someone
who needs it.
