USA visit- June-July 2001

Gem at Siloam Springs Natural    Falls Park, Oklahoma.

This is how i fell in love with the U.S.A!

Kansas to me reminded me a lot of home (except a lot hotter) while, driving in the car i could easily have been driving through Derbyshire with the green countryside and trees! But the cities were a lot different, more spread out, with straight roads and hundreds of restaurants and liquor stores (which we frequented often, hehe:)! ) Having been told by everyone that Kansas was so dull and boring, i was pleasantly surprised to find it had many beautiful lakes and parks, and plenty to do in my eyes. All the different types of birds and wildlife really amazed me, so many i had never even set eyes on before... very beautiful!!

I tried many things for the first time including: Mahi-Mahi fish at the Red Lobster restaurant (very yum!),  throwing crazy chinese fireworks, blowing them up underwater in the pond and generally not following the fireworks code :) (which was very fun!), Sloppy Joes, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (mmm!), crazy golf, southern comfort and iced tea mix, American wines and beer (although not legal until 21, oh well!), celebrated the fourth of july (despite the fact that its the British they are celebrating getting rid off, minor detail!), yummy Juice Stop fruit smoothies, playing games on the Playstation (not so good at that one, but enjoyed it!), went on a proper American road trip to Oklahoma and also managed to map-read and navigate us there and back, very impressive :)!, Hawaiian Ice (heavenly, but watch out for iceheadaches!), a keg-party, and watching a movie in the basement while a little mouse runs around :)! Also got to see a field of sunflowers (one of my fave flowers!) so that fulfilled one of my lifetime ambitions! :)
FUN! FUN! FUN! FUN! FUN!
