Aw, come on!
Would I lie to you?
Here's how I know it works.  After I learned the method, I used it to relax while playing piano.   I envisioned myself playing in front of crowds in a club, feeling relaxed, and getting applause.
Okay, okay.  No, I never had the chance to play piano in front of a crowd. . . yet.  But...
After learning what it felt like to be relaxed, I undertook a challenge course.   That's one of those obstacle courses that supposedly build confidence and teamwork.
Anyway, one of the tests was to climb a telephone pole that had a plank extending from it about two stories into the air.  We had on a safety harness, but still, it was scary thinking you had to climb the pole, walk the plank, and then jump across six feet of open space to a trapeze swing.   (Honest.)
So, what happened?
