Peninsula School District #401 Gilligs (WA) |
Bus #17 is the oldest Gillig owned by PSD, its a 1964 Gillig powered by a Cummins NHH220 and a Spicer five-speed. All of PSD's Gilligs have the Cummins NHH220 as a powerplant, and the Spicer five-speed - with the exception of one Gillig. It has a CAT3208 and a Fuller Roadranger RT610. The dashboard view above is a basic view of almost EVERY dashboard in that district, since all of their Gilligs are pre-1975. A SIDE NOTE: PSD currently has the OLDEST school bus fleet here in Washington State, with 17 Gilligs and 25 Crown SuperCoaches. Most all of their buses are pre-1976. |
Unidentified Gillig |
This bus is an unidentified Gillig. All I know is that it has a Cummins NHH220, making it a model number 743. |

Former Paramount Studios Grip bus |
This bus is a custom-built Utility Body Gillig Coach with a Cummins NHH220 and a Fuller Roadranger RT910 transmission. This bus has Air Ride suspension, 4x4 rear axles, and an air interlock override switch. This bus was a former Paramount Studions Grip bus. The body was built by Gillig, with the custom part built by Aluminum Body Construction Corp of Los Angeles. Several of this kind were made, and purchased by large production companies like ABC Sports, ESPN, and Paramount Studios. |
Fmr. Monrovia Unified School District bus #11 (CA) |
This is a 1967 Gillig, from Monrovia Unified School District in California. It has a Fuller U-572 direct-in-fifth transmission, and a Cummins NHH220. This bus was retired in June of 1999, bought by the school's mechanic, and later bought by Aaron Gold, who sent in these photos. He is now converting it into a RV. Note however, that the bus has no emblems on it. The bus's Serial number is D743-13, and I'm digging up some more info on this very nice looking Gillig. He's also enclosed a scan, which I will feature in Chassis Specs AND here, of the Gillig Chassis layout for their mid-engined models. |
