Partners in Peace in the Waterfront

On Saturday 11th October 2008 we went to the Waterfront hall to take part in a concert called Partners in Peace. We travelled in a bus with St. Ciaran’s Primary school. When we got there we got our picture taken and had our lunch. Then we went in to the main auditorium to have our last dress rehearsal. Before the live show to get us warmed up we clapped and sang to Queen’s song We Will Rock you. There were approximately 400 children in the choir. There were 150 strong young orchestra which included drums, violins, trumpets and pipes. When we were all in our seats we were introduced to the two main characters in the show the conductor, Gerard Grant and the tenor, Emmanuel Lawler. The concert started at 3pm. It was divided in to two halves. The first song played was a song from The Pirates Of The Caribbean. After that we sang a melody of songs from High School Musical, Refuge and the final song of the first half was the chorus of World in Union. Emmanuel Lawler sang the rest. In the first half the orchestra also played the songs recorded by Abba. The second part of the concert began with some of the songs out of the film Greece. We sang a pop melody by amongst others Scissor Sisters, Take That and the Proclaimers. The orchestra played a tune called Lord of the Dance and Emmanuel Lawler sang a song called Nession Dorma. We also sang a song Give us Hope. The final song of the concert was Ireland’s Call. When the concert was over everybody got a standing ovation and at the end the teachers from all the schools had to go and receive a certificate. I thought the experience was very enjoyable and I the concert was fantastic. My favourite part was when the pipes were being played and yes I would go back because it was a great opportunity for young children.
