Only One Mother
Hundreds of times you cut my hair,
Hundreds of times you bring me to granny’s shop,
Hundreds of times you time you take me to the Lamas Fair,
Hundreds of times you clean the floors with a mop.

Hundreds of times you make my bed,
Hundreds of times you keep me fed,
Hundreds of times you take me to the sea,
But only one mother to take care of me!

Mother's Day Card, March 2009

I'm a little leprechaun, with red hair,
Some people stop to have a stare
Look away and I am not there
And they say I'n not that fair!

The Stone Age Settlers

Uncle Danny, Tony, daddy and I went on his boat to Tor Head in Cushendun. We went into the caves. It was very cold and very dark. After we went to have a look about and Tony spotted a funny looking man. He looked very scruffy with long black hair. His clothes were made of animal skin. I asked him why he was making a fire but he talked so weird I couldn’t understand him. It was like 10,000 years old. But it was time to go. We got out of the cave and saw a boat made out of wood and animal skin. We got on our boat. Then we saw him get on his boat and start to row it. I felt like we were being followed. I was a bit scared so I told Danny to reeve the engine. Eventually we got away. It was the night for the Elk so Haley was getting ready. She had a lot of make-up on. Daddy said, ’’Get that make-up off you right now.’’ Tony and I sneaked out the back door and got on the boat. Luckily Tony knew how to drive it so we sailed to the forest in Cushendun. We saw a strange boy. He was wearing animal skin Tony said, ’’It’s a Stone Age person.’’ We asked him what his name was. He said, ’’Ouzo.’’ He asked us if we wanted to come in. We said, ’’No thanks’’. I didn’t want to go into his hut in case it had rats in it. I asked him if he wanted to come to my house. He said, ’’Coco.’’ I thought that meant yes so I took him by the hand to get on the boat and Tony reeved the engine. When we got back to the house we went up the stairs while mammy and daddy were having tea. I hid him under my bed. After half an hour I walked up the stairs and my mattress of my bed was gone. Luckily he couldn’t fit it down the stairs. After a few hours I took him down to the bay beside my uncle’s house. I asked Tony to go get a basket of food. After 2 minutes we got him on the boat and drove it to his hut. Then Tony gave them the basket of food. Tony and I said bye-bye. We got home and had our dinner in the Thornlea. When we were having dinner we saw Megan’s mum working in the bar. After a wee minute I saw Megan she said ’’ Hi.’’ I said, ’’Do you want to come to my uncle’s house?” She said, ’’OK’’ so she came up to my house we played on the swings. I told her about meeting the Stone Age boy but she didn’t believe me.
