Partners in Peace in the Waterfront

On Saturday 11th October we went to the Waterfront to sing in a concert was called “PARTNERS IN PEACE.” We travelled with St.Ciaran’s on a bus to Belfast. When we got there we got our photo taken. After that we had our lunch inside the Waterfront and then we went into the main hall for the dress rehearsal. To get us warmed up we clapped and sang to Queen’s “We Will Rock You.” There were about 400 primary school children who were singing with us and a 150 strong orchestra. There were drummers, violinists, trumpeters, pipers and many more. We were introduced to Gearoid Grant who was our conductor and a very famous Irish Tenor called Emmanuel Lawler. The concert started at 3pm and was divided in two parts. In the first part the orchestra played a tune from Pirates of the Caribbean and then we sang a medley of songs out of High School Musical. We also sang a song called Refuge and the chorus of World in Union which was sung by Emmanuel Lawler. The orchestra also played some tunes that were recorded by Abba. The second part of the concert began with tunes from the 70’s film Grease. We also sang a Pop Medley that included songs by The Scissor Sisters, Take That and the Proclaimers. The orchestra then played Lord of the Dance. Emmanuel Lawler sang Nessun Dormma and we sang Give us Hope. The final song was Ireland’s Call. When the concert was over everyone got a standing ovation. Also at the end all the teachers from the schools had to go on the stage and get a certificate. I thought it was worth 100 out of 100 because few people get the opportunity to go and sing at the Waterfront. The concert was great because we got to sing with a famous tenor and a famous orchestra. My favourite part was Grease Lightning because people in the crowd were dancing like mad. I would love to do it again because it is a great opportunity and because you do not get many chances like that in your life.

The Butcher’s Ghost

Once there was a butcher’s shop in Cushendall where the Corner Shop is now. My granny’s daddy went a walk and he saw a cottage and a ghost dressed as a butcher came out and walked beside him and disappeared.
