Why?…

With so many questions…how can this be?
Can anyone tell us, why we get 'D'?
With so many people fighting so hard for me,
A 'cure' must be there; we need victory.

The tools we have work, we stay in control,
But the battles we fight, they damage our soul.
We only want peace, is that too much to say?
It’s a simple request, please grant it today.

We want this condition to vanish into space,
Parents’ smiles and happiness to return in their place.
Our time here is precious; we live it to see,
That no more precious babies are dx’d with 'D'!

We’ve come a long way; we’ve fought a good fight,
But the battles we wage take all of our might.
With so much at stake, it’s so plain to me,
We fight for our lives, each day we have 'D'.

My 'D' has a good side; it’s made me take stock,
Of all of my friends, and all that I’ve got.
There are good sides and bad, times to run or to fight,
But my life is a blessing, in the midst of my plight.

It’s easy to feel sorry, to play the pity game,
But nothing is won when you give up in shame.
We must all fight ‘D’ battles, help each other to see,
Our strength in our battles, help others with 'D'.

So I want nothing more than to live my life well,
Things could be worse, that is easy to tell.
It’s important to learn, and to take care of me,
Because for the moment, I’m stuck with this 'D'!
