When I was a child the only dolls I remember were my Barbies. I had many dolls, clothes, a pink car and a cool cardboard house. I have no idea what happened to all the stuff because I took good care of it. I do have a few of the Barbies and a small amount of clothes I salvaged from a paper bag. I used to have several plastic cases though. Then when my daughter was born "we" started buying her Barbies. I have those stored now. She has many cases of them complete with clothes and a large 3-piece house with furniture. She also has a large Strawberry Shortcake house, furniture, and berry's filled with little dolls. When she was a baby my gram made her a porcelain doll baby. Gram sent to Germany for the head and hands. They are made from a Putnam mold. She also ordered the glass eyes from Germany. When you turn it, it cries (gram put a crier inside). About 10 years ago I started collecting porcelain dolls. I have some that are larger, about 20+ inches but the ones I really love are the 6-inch and 8 inch ones. I am just in awe of the skill required to do the detail on the little ones. They are also much easier to display. Most of the ones I have are Marie Osmond dolls. I have all the Greeting Card dolls she made. I also have some from the Miracle Children and Petit Armour series and a few more. The largest one of hers I have is Tracy, the "sign language" I Love You doll. I have 2 vinyl kweppie dolls and a tall vinyl Lissie doll among other porcelains. Second childhood I guess |
