Since it's Mothers' Day, my whole fam went to Something Fishy in Eastwood City, Libis at around eight o' clock in the evening. I had a good time even though I never really appreciate seafood that much. We laughed and talked about everything- Dad's very sick 7650, my experience in Boracay with Justin and his fam last April, Dad and Tita Marie's (my stepmom) officemates, a commercial offer from Globe which I turned down (Ack!), and even Gracia Burnham! Don't get me wrong... my 'rents are NOT THAT old and they're really cool. I'm proud to say that they're kinda updated. Hehe... But I hope my REAL mom was also there physically because if she was, I bet she can also relate to the things we were talking about.

You see, my mom died some years ago because of the big C. It was hard to accept that fact considering I was just a little girl at that time. I was in denial for months. Then after a year or so, Dad started dating Tita Mar, who happens to be my mom's best friend. It was even harder and more painful to bear because I was not ready to have a new mommy just yet. I hated tita because to me, it was like she was betraying her best friend- my mother!

One night, Dad entered my bedroom while I was watching TV. He showed me a letter mom gave him before she died. I read it and I cried the whole night. The letter said everything- that if ever Dad is to marry again, my mom wants someone who will love her daughter (me) and her husband (Dad) whole-heartedly. And you guess it, she was actually referring to her best bud, Tita Mar. But I don't think I understood it all then until my Dad explained it to me.

I was not in favor of Tita Mar even after she and my Dad got married. I did not love her then. I only agreed her to be my Dad's wife for the sake of my mom's favor when she was still alive.

But as time passed, I learned to love her. She made my Dad happy and she treated me like her own daughter, even if I acted like a brat. The best thing about Tita Mar is that she never feel uneasy whenever we start talking about mom. She was even the one who suggested that we visit mom at the cemetery and give her a bouquet of red roses as a Mothers' Day present before we go to Libis.

My dad is full of luck 'cause he found a nice second wife. My mom is too, 'cause she has a best friend who never left her, even after death. But I guess I'm the luckiest of them all 'cause I have two moms to celebrate Mothers' Day with- one who's there physically and one who's there in spirit.
