Frequently Asked Questions
Q:Why GOB?
A:Originally GOB stood for Good Old Boys, but since founding we have had members who were neither good, old or boys. GOB suits us better anyway.
Q:What periods do you play?
A:At present - Prehistoric, Ancients (including DBA), American Civil War, English Civil War, Napoleonic, Colonial, Crimea, World War 2, Samurai, Fantasy, Sci-Fi (various flavours including WH40K), Africa 1950-present, and many more I've simply forgotten.
Q:Do you play [insert obscure rules system]
A:If you have the rules, and we have (or can borrow) the miniatures, we'll give it a go.
Q:Can I join?
A:Sure. Just turn up at. Our details are o the main page. Please not that gamers under 16 MUST be accompanied at all times by a parent or legal guardian.
Q:Does it cost anything?
A:Your first night is free. Weekly subs are the very reasonable price of £2.00, or 1.00 if unwaged. If you are refereeing, or not playing that night, there is no charge. Also, twice a year we collect a membership fee.
Q:Where do my subs go?
A:Subs mainly go towards the rental costs of the hall. I the event we have some left over the club purchases (or replaces) scenery.
Q:Why aren't you still at The Labour Club?
A:We needed much more room. We now have room for around 10 tables comfortably.
Q:What's with the 1720BC on the homepage?
A:The earliest six-nation campaign in DBA is Hyksos 1720BC. As far as I know we haven't played any games set before that time. We did a dinosaur game at the shows once, but that had a hunter with a gun, so I doubt it was set in the Jurassic age!
